Re: I am the mini, yeppp the Mini ;)
Mini Time!
just worked on some small details during the past week...
first up was to tidy up the floor panel...
applied some Aluminium panels by using Hasegawa finishing.
also applied some soft sponges on the wheels to give tires more accurate look...
also added the air valves...
bucket seats are also getting their treatments... the brackets are in place
need a bit cleaning tho...
Reworked the front grill as I was not happy with the previous one.
this will be carbon wrapped later on...
earlier I also build the radiators and the intercoolers unfortunately after using the Hobby design engine, I find out that they were a bit oversize...
so, scratch build radiators once more in better and more accurate form...
this is how they look behind the bumper
still need to scratch build the air filter box and many other engine parts....
and this ones just pop up as bonus
the jack stands

Re: I am the mini, yeppp the Mini ;)
Gulp! And still the loveliness continues!
I'm so glad I'm not trying to make my 1/43 scale models to the same level of detail. My eyesight would be failing!
I don't recall any criticism of any aspect of your MINI build by anyone on the Forum, Omer, and yet there have been several times you have scrapped parts of the build you have not been happy with. Congratulations on your consistently high standard of model-building! Brilliant, as ever!
Cheers, Steve

Re: I am the mini, yeppp the Mini ;)
as usual, I am very thankful for your comments and support gentlemen. please keep your comments and if possible critics/suggestions coming as they all give me great perspective in this and other builds....
so, I have to admit, I had a romantic weekend nights with the Mini under the candle lights
hahaha, no just kidding used the candle to heat up and bend the Styrene rods to build the headers and exhaust pipes...
here is the future aim of the engine look....
as some of the other engine parts, I used Hobby design engine kit Turbo for this build as well. but the directions of the Turbo was not correct compared to Mini so I had to modify the Turbo as well....
after some cutting...
used some brass rods to create the flexible look...
build up the exhaust pipes as well, in this case Mini WRC's headers and exhaust pipes were tricky to replicate as there were so many angles....
Wastegate pipe done as well...
well it's a tight fit...
this weekend's bonus was the Safety sponges for the Buckets....
I used some soft sponges from HPI wheel/tires...
I will sleep on these scratch builds couple of days and go thru them again to see if I made any mistakes...
If you guys have any comments, suggestions or warnings please do not hesitate to share with me
I guess next up will be more engine parts as I have many other details like air intake manifold, air filter box, oil tank and many other small details to add up.....

Re: I am the mini, yeppp the Mini ;)
thanks gentlemen for the quick and supportive response
@ Mark
She is on hold at this moment as I spend all time for the Mini build. during this period I am also trying to source some reference photos of the Golf in details
She will be another detailed model so will take long time to build...
thanks for your interest

Re: I am the mini, yeppp the Mini ;)
in the beginning it was some details but after a talk with a friend on Facebook those details becomes more and more details.... he screw up my head and I ended up start detailing the engine as well
first up was an earlier scratch build, the air filter box...
and also the oil reserve tank
those were some tasty yoghurts... but 3 of them at a time was not that pleasant
I used the yoghurt cover to cover the exhaust pipe and headers to have an heat shield effect... and then painted them in gold colour with flat clear coat. might do some more weathering later on...
as I mentioned above, after the previous post photo of the detailed engine parts... while I was talking to a friend about the engines... I decided to pull the plug and will try to build a more detailed engine even its not gonna be visible...
engine still in progress
I drilled the cylinder wholes on the cylinder head as well. so that I can align the cylinders and the valves....
later on I will fill in the wholes on it....
trial to fit the future camshafts...
waiting for the cylinders to arrive from Prodrive
then I will fill in the wholes on the cylinder head
cylinder block and the gearbox had been painted in gloss aluminium while dry sump painted in aluminium finish...
more engine parts painted...
so far a bit more coloured engine bay....
next up will be another challenge in the engine bay....
cabling and piping on a very tight engine bay and parts, don't know that will end up, we'll see
while all those happening I also spend some time with the front bumper, she got her splitter as well...
couple more details needed on the front bumper and then hopefully will be ready...
I will try to build more parts during next two weeks hopefully....

As ever, Omer, truly inspiring.
The yoghurt lids work extremely well- I will have to use them myself - after all, I'm forever finding useful pieces of plastic in the kitchen for my model building, so why not some metal lids too?
Always a pleasure reading your posts, Omer.
Keep 'em coming!
Cheers and best wishes, Steve
