Re: I've finally fnished something!!!
Andy did 2 versions of this car. The first version limited to 10 with wheelfans, open roof vent and Lamp pod on the bonnet. The other limited to 40 with 5 spoke wheels, roof vent decal and no Lamp pod.newt5550 wrote:Another great build Simon. Yours has different wheels to Andy's. Are yours correct or were both used?

Re: I've finally fnished something!!!
I have a hybrid!
I bought a ready-made one of the ten with wheel fans and light pod, but there was no roof vent, just the rectangular decal. I haven't yet rectified this myself.
Cheers, Steve

Re: I've finally fnished something!!!
I think Andy has done a few variations on these. I have seen a few different pictures of some with wheelfans, with & without the lightpod, I think I saw one of Andy's pics that had one with Tarmac Dymags on as well.
Also some are car No4 with wheelfans and car No1 with five spokes and others are vice versa I think Juha has both versions and his No4 has 5 spoke wheels and his No1 has Wheelfans. In Mark (Cowfeeder's) collection pics his car is No4, no lamp pod, roof vent decal but has wheelfans??
I just based the details on mine from the original pics that Andy put up, Car No4 with wheelfans, lamp pod and open roof vent, along with standard plain windows without sliders.
It is a nice model whichever variation you have

Totally agree with you there, Simon!Simon6R4 wrote:It is a nice model whichever variation you have
I wonder if my model will be 'rare' in years to come?! Perhaps not as rare as some of the 'test cars' we've seen on eBay in recent months and commented on on here, but rare nevertheless!
Makes me wonder what Andy is working on at the mo'!

Simon6R4 wrote:This is definitely my longest running project, started it way back in 2010 and it's been an on/off project ever since.
Did a bit on it, left it, did a bit more left it again for several months and so on, but I finally finished it today, so it really does fit the thread title of it being finally finished.
Lots of work involved, and lots of cutting/grinding/drilling/filling/sanding; Front valance cut off, bumper holes filled, bonnet vent filled and new vent cut out nearer windscreen, single wiper conversion, door pods cut off reshaped/filled/smoothed, rear lower valance cut off, window vents cut out, complete new larger rear wing and end plates built from scratch, re-paint, homemade decals and finally done
Rob Gibson MG Metro 6R4 from 1991 British Rallycross Grand Prix, although when Rob finished it was missing half the bodywork
Photos are not great I'm afraid

This is a personal code 3, one I have wanted to do for along time; Steve Palmer Metro 6R4 from the 1991 Autoglass Rallycross Grand Prix. A lot of work in this one; door pods removed, front valance removed, stripped & re painted, all homemade decals I'm pleased with result though
I will post some better pics in daylight, cos these pics are pretty rubbish

Re: I've finally fnished something!!!
Haven't updated this thread for ages and ages. I didn't really do much building at all last year but have now got back into the swing of it once more.
I have been busy finishing off the Steve Palmer 6R4s and have now finished off these 2, both Rallycross cars from the late eighties
First up Arne Rasmushaugen Metro 6R4 bi Turbo, many thanks to Steve hampton caught for the decal file for this one
" />
" />
Second Dimi Mavropoulos Audi Sport Quattro, really pleased with how this turned out, Cars do look good in Black

Re: I've finally fnished something!!!
Great work, Simon, as we've come to expect!!
You've done a lovely job on the Rasmasheugen Bi-Turbo and the Mavroupolous Quattro is the business. What did you use as a donor vehicle for that one? I guess there must be umpteen Quattro Coupes out there but haven't looked myself yet.
My (ever-growing) rallycross collection won't be complete without a Dimi-mobile!! Always loved the trill sound of the wastegate on the over-run. I'd have that rather any day than the bang and fart of the more modern WRC fayre! Apologies for any of our, ahem, younger viewers, but you needed to be there to appreciate the sound properly!!
Congrats again, Simon.
Cheers, Steve

Many thanks Steve.
The base car for the Quattro is a Minichamps. The Acropolis Rallye car
