Looks good Simon. Always hard to get a 1/43 to look natural in the paint and you seem to have got it.

That looks spot on Simon, and yet another very fitting rallycross addition to your collection. You kept that one quiet on Saturday, or did all those 6R4s give you renewed enthusiasm to finish off the model? Well done mate - it looks ace!
I'm going to have to dig out the 1991 Rallycross GP entry list, and see what else you have planned. By the way, I was also at Brands on that day!

Hey Simon, that's fantastic! Excellent model and an excellent car to model! Like it - a lot!
I've been planning to do two Dermot Carnegie cars, one for each year he was British Rallycross Champion, so you've pipped me to it! Well done, my friend!
Out of interest, what were the other two cars you have already modelled from the Rallycross GP in 1991...... which I was also at, incidently! Bizarre, that 20+ years on, several of us have been united by shared events all that time ago.... and reliving them in the diecast metal!
Well done for getting it finished, Simon. Pleased to say I've also finished my two Will Gollop rallycross cars with the red/blue Mobil colour scheme. They both now ride on the proper tarmac wheels too, like your Carnegie car. Hurrah!
Cheers, and many congratulations, Steve

Thank you David. I didn't mention it on saturday, wanted to get something actually finished before I let the cat out the bag and yes seeing all those 6R4s just adds to the list of possible future models
There are certainly plenty of possibilities for other entries, but I think I will probably try and get my Rob Gisbon car from that event finished, after all I did start on it in 2011

Re: I've finally fnished something!!!
I'll forgive you Simon - it would have probably gone in one ear and out the other anyway, especially with what else our senses had to take in on the day!Simon6R4 wrote:I didn't mention it on saturday, wanted to get something actually finished before I let the cat out the bag
The Carnegie model looks even nicer on the extra photos you've added since, Simon - well done on another quality built one-off rallycross 6R4.
Re: I've finally fnished something!!!
Simon,
I'm figuring that somewhere along the line, there will models of Denis Biggerstaff and John Maloney's 6R4s from the event. I've been trying to work out the shade of green to use for Maloney's car, so let's discuss.
Cheers, Steve

Hampton Caught wrote:...John Moloney...
Proof reading aside for a moment, there's some great suggestions for further rallycross models there Steve - each one in it's own memorable and distinctive livery / colour scheme as well.
Pauli Silvennoinen, Hans te Pas, John Fernandes, and Mark Flaherty also contested the finals - and that's just the Metro content!
Re: I've finally fnished something!!!
Hi David,
Thanks for spotting the typo! Sasuage finger alert!
I was watching the 1991 RX GP finals on YouTube earlier this morning (I'm having a well-earned day off!) and was wondering about Mark Flaherty as well. Again, trying to find a suitable colour match from road cars will be a bit taxing, as, like you, I use rattle cans rather than an airbrush as Simon does, so have to do it that way!
I'd considered the pale SEAT green colour for Moloney's car, but that is far too pale. Nothing else I've seen on the roads these past few months I've been looking are anything like a match. I'd posted a thread on here last autumn on that very subject. Maybe I need to bump it up.
Then again, considering Moloney used tarmac rims, maybe there's no urgency! We know how hard they are to source!
Patience, they say, is a virtue! Cheers, Steve

Re: I've finally fnished something!!!
Steve, John Moloney's would be a nice one to do, but like a lot of the rallycross cars the livery changes slightly from event to event. So far I haven't been able to find many suitable photos for his car, so I will keep searching. Any help from anyone would be much apreciated
The trouble with paint shades on cars especially the older ones is that the photos that are about often vary in how bright or dark they are so can make the cars look different shades in different pics

Re: I've finally fnished something!!!
Mark Flaherty's car had a lot of white lettering didn't it? so that would be more difficult, and metallic blue as well
Like David said, there's plenty of other cars as well as the Metros
