Re: DRM Members Model.... Suggestions & Chat Thread
if its 1:43, then has to be the manta for me (obviously) i would put my name down for one immediately...
if 1:18, i would prefer Irish, but would still consider others..... i dont think we 1:18 guys have a big enough number yet to sway the vote our way, but would love to be proved wrong lol!!

Re: DRM Members Model.... Suggestions & Chat Thread
.
Maybe the decals could be used to do a 1/18 model,
I collect both scales so I'd take a built 1/43 model + decals to do a 1/18,
Still early days Billy.... but the 6R4 nuts are taking over
In all honesty I don't mind as I've gathered up a few 6R4's myself

Would like a Feckin 6R4 as well or how about Colin McRae Nissan 240RS from the Tweedies Daihatsu stages 1988. (Don't know if there is many pics of this one but would like to see them if there are any.)

Re: DRM Members Model.... Suggestions & Chat Thread
My preferences in no particular order:-
Biggerstaff Feckin Metro 6R4
Murphy Statoil Escort Cossie
Connolly BP BMW M3
Any one of these would be great to add to the colection. And as much as I like Scoobies, please not another one.

I think that would be great idea- a total forum only livery, to make it just purely a forum model with just the Forum Logo and maybe some other simple design on it. We then wouldn't need to have a particular event/livery/Irish/Non-Irish car but just simply a forum members model. It would also be much easier to do. We wouldn't need any photos of an actual livery because it would be designed from scratch, this would save on cost and make it easier for whoever built them as well. All we would have to really agree on would be which car to use.
Even better would be to have a dedicated the Forum Livery and apply it to a variety of the most popular cars, and it could be 1:43 or 1:18 or whatever.
The main thing then would be a dedicated Forum Model Livery rather than any particular car

Ah lads come on. A fantasy model. There has been a few on e bay and a lot on here were laughing at them. Now I know Brian would do a 100% job but not for me. Now not getting into a keyboard war here lol. Just my opinion.

Re: DRM Members Model.... Suggestions & Chat Thread
I don't think a fantasy model, with any sponsorship on trying to be something it isn't that wouldn't be any good. I was thinking rather of a Forum model, a simple model with some kind of Forum logo/livery on it

Re: DRM Members Model.... Suggestions & Chat Thread
Would prefer a real model myself. By all means, have the DRM logo on the base, but the model itself would need to be from a real driver and a real event. What ever chance we have of getting enough interest in the model as a real car, only a handful would buy a fantasy model and we would be in the situation as the last forum model

AGREE!
A 100% accurate model complete with a DRM labelled & numbered base would be the best route to take in my mind as well.
You all know what models I collect anyway, and as such I would really only be interested in buying a forum model if it was a Metro 6R4. This isn't blackmail by any means - I am merely stating the facts as I would not wish to add a Subaru, Ford or anything else to my heavily 6R4 biased and blinkered collection. But then I'm sure there are others who would not buy a 6R4 because it's not a Subaru or a Ford.

Whatever model is done I think it needs something to mark it somehow, either on the plinth or whatever, to distinguish it as a Forum Only model

Another vote for the 100% accurate model and DRM labelled and numbered base .
My choice would have to be a Ford though; preferably either an Escort RS Cosworth (Cullen, McRae, Boland or have all these been done already ?) , Escort Cosworth WRC (Murphy would be ideal), Sierra Sapphire (McRae) or a Focus (Meagher - although this has probably already been done).

One important thing to take into acount is the possibility to get enough good quality base models at a reasonable price.
The escort WRC on last page looks awesome

My tuppence worth is a real car with a DRM logo on baseplate. It will come as no surprise to anyone that there is strong support for the 6R4 on the forum. The said 6R4 is a niche market within the overall rally model community. To broaden its appeal - and put the cat amongst the pigeons at the same time - might I suggest a Billy Coleman Manx Rothmans 6R4.

Very valid points James, but can I suggest a slight change to the model you suggested?...JOB wrote:My tuppence worth is a real car with a DRM logo on baseplate. How about Billy Coleman's 1986 Cork 20 Rally 'Rothmans Rally' liveried MG Metro 6R4 instead of his Manx entry?
That way we'd be catering for the 6R4 nuts, as well as the Coleman / Rothmans / Irish rally / Irish driver collectors!

Billy Coleman Thomas Motors Mkl Escort British Rally Championship Year

Remember if this model goes ahead it's for everyone so speak up now so we can get everything sorted,
We'll maybe leave it until after the weekend and start to vote on a short list,
Oh and I'm not in charge here.... I'm just playing moderator while Paul is playing doctors & nurses looking after Diane
