DRM Members Model.... Suggestions & Chat Thread

Following on from a bit of chat in another thread....

Would the members here be interested in a Members Model?

No builder has been approached about doing a model and a model hasn't been picked out yet so this thread is just to see what everyone thinks,
If you can post up here first of all if your interested in the idea + the type of model you would suggest,

After we narrow it down to a short list of models we can then take a vote on it,
Once the model has been agreed on and the amount of models needed we can ask a builder if he wants to take the job on,

For me the model would have to be Irish and rallied before 2000, or an Irish Impreza S12B driven by a Tarmac Champion,
I would go for a model from outside Ireland but it would have to be an Irish driver or a Colin/Jimmy McRae model,

All the above is just what I'm thinking so feel free to say what you think and we'll see if a DRM Members Model can be born

Personally I would like to see a 6R4, don't mind the year or if it's a Irish model or not. I think there would be quite a few different ones to choose from that would still fit a fair few peoples collection criteria

Just in reference to a builder i would hate to see anybody getting burned again so perhaps a substancial deposit be payed up front....then this would a be good indication as to how many models were required, hence it would be easy to order the correct number of base models and sets of decals required.........Not necessary to have decals and base models in stock with no use for them

The reason the last forum model didnt work out so well was that there was 100 of them made, when we didnt have 100 active members on the forum, or anywhere close to that number at the time.

Once the model is chosen, anyone who wants one would have to pay a deposit of at least 50%, and round off the number of models to the next 5 i.e. 23 people want the model, limit the model to 25.

Also, when people are suggesting a model that they realistic about it. Its fine to name out all the models from your wish list, but if theres no pictures of the car out there then theres little hope of it being done.

Might i suggest Kieron O Neils Kadett. I know Gary was looking at this before he took a break.

I think the first step would be to find a car enough people would be interested in. Maybe do a poll? Then we can talk about which driver/rally.

Yeah I would have to agree that a deposit would need to be paid up front + only order/make enough models based on the demand,
As for the model again it would have to be a car that photos can be got for + base models are cheap and easy to get,

As said it's all very well picking out models that are on peoples wish list but if the model involves respraying or real tricky decals then it will push costs up,
I'll list the models that have been mentioned so far and if you want to add another one then just cut N paste the list into your post,
That way we can keep an eye on them and some wont get over looked or mentioned over and over again,

Paul - if Denis' latest car was turned into a new Forum Model, then I can't see that would have any effect on your other two Biggerstaff models - after all, they're both highly desirable, very very limited, and built be arguably one of (if not the!) most respected model makers out there - Kevin McDaid. They will still be worth the feckin fortune you paid for them I'm sure!
