Re: Chris Derbyshire (CDM) Group B model display - Race Retro 2012
Well, there's nothing like pressure then!
Chris... I hope I can speak on behalf of my, currently absent but 'learned colleague', but we are both very honoured to have been asked! Your previous displays have set the bar very high indeed, and will be very hard to match in all honesty. We will however be very happy to put on a display, and hopefully one that is worthy enough to commemorate such a momentous occasion.
With Race Retro traditionally occurring in February, it will also be 30 years to the very month that the red & white MG Metro 6R4 prototypes were announced to the assembled media at that London Heathrow hotel. If the organisers are also likely to feature the 6R4 in some form of anniversary display, can I suggest that it might be worth approaching the British Heritage Trust museum at Gaydon for the loan of MG Metro 6R4 Prototype NÂș 001 : A656 NJO?
Must dash as we've got two display cases of models to build between us! From the above photos it looks like we're talking about 90-100 models in total, plus room in between for any small bits of related memorabilia.
Thank you Juha - let's talk during the latter part of 2013 when we start to assemble the list of models to be displayed.

Re: Chris Derbyshire (CDM) Group B model display - Race Retro 2012
Greetings! I hadn't seen this thread originally (my '6R4 radar' can't have been working then!) and have been drooling my way from the top. I counted 3 6R4s and the DAM 4100 that I don't have in my collection as either completed models or decals lying in waiting!
Then I got to the recent threads and started palpitating!! David, I'd be happy loaning you some of my 6R4s to include in the display. As you know, I have several of my own Code 3 rally and rallycross models which haven't been made by anyone else, plus some others that have...... and I should have quite a few more of both types by that stage too!
Let's talk nearer the time. Cheers, Steve

Flattered to be involved thanks Chris, now I gotta get my shift on & build build build over 16 months
I can see 1 from your collection that we'll need at the least.
If we could get A656NJO then it would be good if we could get Ali in C95KOG

As I said to Juha... Thanks for the offer Steve, and let's talk during the latter part of 2013 about it.

You can put in how many models you want to. Dont forget some pins, photos reduced in size, patches anything 6R4 related, But most important proper labelling for each model, You know what they are but you are trying to inform others who dont know. Make the whole thing intersting for others to stop and take the time to look in.
Suggested mini themes
1984 - 1986
Post group B era perhaps by decades?
Significant results or events - York National, best World finish, last World rally etc.....
Following on from James O'B suggestion on the forum the other day how about following one or two number plates and what liveries they have been attached to? Is there a number plate that has been through many versions?
As you say plenty of time (it will rush by before you know whats happened!!).
Cheers

Re: Chris Derbyshire (CDM) Group B model display - Race Retro 2012
Chris,
Following on from your suggestion of a theme and some thoughts I'd had myself during the week, I'm looking to do a series of rallycross 6R4s with the number GB1 - so that will include Will Gollop, Mike Shield, Dermot Carnegie and Lawrence Gibson. Haven't missed anyone out, have I? I can include my other rallycross and rally 6R4s too, of course.
With the show in mind, I'll start on this series sooner than later. Good to have something to focus on with a timescale/ deadline. Helps concentrate the mind!
Cheers, Steve
