Here is part 1 my pictures from the show. Quite pleased with how the pics have turned out considering I only paid £30 for the camera Would like to get something thats abit more professional though and has a good macro mode for when I take pics of my models as this camera I use is rubbish at close ups

Mcrae's donegal 6R4 is now owned by Aled Williams. He certainly knows how to drive it, fair play to him. I had a chat with him after his first run and he was saying that with how short the straights are and the 90 left and right corners, it was the first time he felt car sick! lol Nice to see the car 11 years after I started helping build this but wasnt told at the time who the customer was as they didnt want it to be known till it was built.
Re: RACE RETRO 2012 Stoneleigh Feb 25th

It sure was. It was exciting wondering who the hell the owner was that we was building it for. I found out about it reading in motorsport news the one day and seeing the pics of it testing in sweet lamb! It wasnt anything special I done in the build like fitting the engine or anything like that but any help in building a 6R4 is good enough for me

Cracking photos Chris and Nicky - making me realise exactly what I missed!
I'd have quite happily drooled all over Duncan Holder's Rover Vitesse all day, but does anyone know if his 6R4 sold in the auction?
Looking forward to seeing the 6R4 model display when you get a moment Nicky!

Excellent photos Peter, and such different weather conditions to 2011!
I haven't got any news on Duncan's 6R4 yet Dave, but if I hear anything I'll be sure to post it here.

Weather was a complete contrast to last year, I got to sit on the grass to take a few of the photos and didn't get wet

No results of the auction up yet, due later in the week according to the Silverstone Auctions website
Re: RACE RETRO 2012 Stoneleigh Feb 25th
I was out in the infield with you last year Peter - although possibly not at the same time or on the same days! Man that was a wet and muddy one, and seeing your photos of the karters in the dry this year, reminded me how sorry I felt for them all last year - they must have got drenched!
I too had just checked the Silverstone Auctions website prior to posting.

Re: RACE RETRO 2012 Stoneleigh Feb 25th
The Chevy is actually a Vauxhall Firenza with a V8 Chevy under the bonnet. Its an exact replica of a car that was made in South Africa. Most of these cars were raced but a few were rallied.
When the car first appeared at Race Retro a few years ago there was clearly far too much power for the skinny tyres to handle and he spent most of the time spinning off track. The rear wing has appeared in recent years.
The noise and the tail out driving style still makes this car a crowd favourite.
Cheers
Chris

Mick had a photo over at the holding area showing the Firenza he replicated with the wing on the back, he reckons it doesn't make any difference to the car
