Silver strip on Sunstar 1/18 Escort

Anyone know if the silver strip on over the windows on the Mk 2 is tampo or what. I tried removing it with Nail Varish remover and its not moving. T-cut hasnt done anything either. Im afraid of going to hard in case it goes back to bare metal.

Also, anyone else notice how the later released escorts are not as well built as the early ones. This is a newer release and compared to the early ones ive worked on before. Maybe its just this one as its number 14 of 1499 and has faults but it would put me off buying another new release mk2s.
