e-bay and/or paypal problems/issues
first up, can i suggest this as a sticky nicky (sorry, couldn't resist it m8!) as most of us do quite a bit of business on ebay........anyway whatever you think m8...
got an issue arising with ebay today...sold a model last week to a guy in france, packed secure and mint in its original box, but got email today from buyer stating model is scratched, de-decalled and suffering from broken/detached front wheel and rear wing! also says box is badly marked; now i have 100% positive feedback on over 400 transactions and wish to protect that, but also am wary that this guy could be pulling a flanker, this model left me as new and now i think i'm about to get either a wrecked model returned, or lose a load of the price, or lose my perfect reputation on ebay...
any comments/suggestions welcome lads, as i'm so cheesed i feel like letting him leave what he wants, i just don't believe such damage could have occurred so easily...i've asked him if a child could have gotten to it first, no reply yet...

Re: e-bay and/or paypal problems/issues
Was it the focus you sold billy
I bought a mint focus from ebay a good while back but as soon as the postman handed it to me i knew it was damaged as it rattled. So i got my video recorder and actually recorded me opening the box and the damage inside, just to prove it was like that when i got it. The base the model was attached to had broken and model had bounced around inside the box. Contacted the seller and he agreed to refund me some of the money. But the base had broken and thats what caused the damage

Re: e-bay and/or paypal problems/issues
Sorry to hear of your problems Billy, and from previous posts on here and elsewhere, there does seem to be an increasing amount of complaints from buyers - and I think it's easy to guarantee that the vast vast majority of them are not genuine either! It is happening far too often these days....
Have you asked him to email you some photos of the damage that he mentions? At least that way you can see that he is being genuine when he states the model is damaged - rather than him lying about it so that he ends up with a mint model, AND his money refunded by ebay or Paypal - a total win win situation for him!

PS - Good advice about video-ing yourself opening the box Brian.
I'll try and remember that prior to opening up a similar parcel the next time I have equal suspicions of damaged contents - just in case....

Re: e-bay and/or paypal problems/issues
thanks for the comments guys, brian yes m8 the autoart focus and it was mint when i posted it....
david yeah he has offered to send me photos, but tbh i dont doubt its now damaged, what bugs me is how/when it got it...
i will prob offer a partial refund and put it down to experience, but what am i legally obliged to offer? if i totally deny any responsibility, and he claims off paypal, can they take money from me without my permission?

If paypal rule in favour of the buyer, they can take money from your paypal if its still there/ freeze you account/ put your paypal balence into negetive so the next time you use it you get charged.

Re: e-bay and/or paypal problems/issues
oh great!
ah well looks like a full or partial refund, i supose if he returns it i could use it for (yet) another base for future conversion, the wheel and rear spoiler will reattach ok and the paint/decal damage will not matter...

I give up selling on EBAY,the seller has no rights at all, even if you are'nt in the wrong.I sold a clown a BMW touring car last year, when I bought the car from Motor-pro it came with no box,so I bought a few boxes of Graham Ward Promod. The BMW sat in the box perfectly for 15 years until I sold it last year. Then the clown that bought it left me negative feedback,he said that the car did'nt sit correctly in the box and that my photo was misleading.Sellers are in a no win situation,

he didnt waste much time negotiating, i offered a partial refund, at the end of the day a drop of glue will fix the wheel and spoiler, it wouldnt be the first model i received damaged and had to fix myself.......

I had a right arse on with ebay / paypal as one of my last sales they wont do anything about it so i slagged them off on another sale I put up calling them
I too was considering not selling on there anymore but i now keep all coresponding emails, pics and transactions along with receipts as sellers are not worth anything on there but ebay still happy to take your money

Phone ebay and tell them everything
offer to supply pics when the buyer sends them and ask them for an email address to send to to prove you are in the right

Re: e-bay and/or paypal problems/issues
My experience on Ebay is fairly extensive over the years and as a seller you have absolutely no rights. I have noticed recently that some unscrupulous buyers will try their luck to get a refund for no other reason than they can!!!
My most recent issues are quite funny!! I had a couple of damaged 1:18 models I decided to strip and sell as spares!! I had described the items well but the number of problems I had were wild!!! Some peoples intelligence boggles the mind. I had at least 3 morons thought they were buying 1:1 scale parts A springalex steering wheel for £17 is a prime example or a set of recaro seats for £25 another!!
Of coarse due to ebays bias towards the buyers i ended up with a negative feedback because of it!!!

Re: e-bay and/or paypal problems/issues
after being forced to issue a full refund to the buyer, i have decided that i will no longer send anything on ebay to countries outside the uk and ireland; its obvious the postal/courier service overseas leaves a lot to be desired. i have only ever had two models ever returned damaged, and both were international; both models left me in as-new condition...

Re: e-bay and/or paypal problems/issues
guys, just a wee snippet of information, i thought might be useful in future to some of you if you have a dispute with ebay; if you want to contact them through e-mail to voice a complaint, you will find it hard to get their contact details on their so-called customer support page. a way to get these details is to select 'customer support', but instead of going through the endless menu, which never provides required option, you then select on the list on the right of the page 'searching for items'. this brings up telephone and e-mail adresses of their customer-support system.....
i have been trying to get satisfaction after a transaction went pear-shaped; the buyer reported item damaged, i was forced to issue a full refund, which i did, but he has not returned item! i have no item and no payment, class!
tried calling ebay and paypal for days, both now say that as the case is closed i can do nothing more, how does that make sense? thinking about scrapping ebay and paypal altogether, their support sytems are buyer-biased and unfair...

Re: e-bay and/or paypal problems/issues
Hi Lads, Has anyone ever bought or heard of Peter Spurk (MODELLAUTODREAMS) Ebay seller from Germany. He is known to have built an odd code3 His latest being 1 of 3 Kinley ypres 1/18 Sunstar escort. This 1 is a 1 off 3 piece and is as JK Designs. I was wondering has anyone ever bought his code3 stuff before and how did they feel about the quality of his work ?
Re: e-bay and/or paypal problems/issues

I too have bought from him in the past. Just be sure that what you are buying ever existed. Some of his code 3's are "approximations" - he has a Rothmans alfa for sale for a few years now that never existed. he used the wrong base model.
As for the hassle with damaged models on ebay. I have been at the receiving end of such models. I started a thread some time back warning sellers to pack the INSIDE of the model case with tissue, polystyrene or whatever just in case the model comes away from its base mountings. I have received models with fantastic packaging and the model in $hit for that very reason. I have also got models in boxes that looked like they had been used as footballs - not a square corner on them but the model intact because of the packing inside the plastic case.

Thanks James. Had alot of problems with this guy and the model in mention. Was wondering had anyone else experience what i have. The abuse i had of him was outrageous. I certainly would not buy again....JOB wrote:I too have bought from him in the past. Just be sure that what you are buying ever existed. .
Sorry to hear about the hassle over the model Gary,
Did it arrive damaged or does it look like a 4year old through it together?
I got stuff off this seller ages ago and had hassle over postage costs,
He bumped up the price and tried to say I was not in the UK, he said that I was in Ireland,
I stuck to my guns and emailed back saying I'm in the UK and have a UK postal address, this went on for a while,
He sent the model in the end but I had to pay a wee bit more, not what he first asked so I think he was trying it on,
All his emails were very dry and direct he sounded like a cheeky ballix!!
The statement above is MY view and not the view of Diecastrallymodels.co.uk

Re: e-bay and/or paypal problems/issues
Hi Colin yes mate my 4 year old would have made a better attempt. Im not the wonderman at doing models and far from it...but this was a terrible attempt. Sorry to say this but decals blurred and bad colour. Also bubbled. Even paint looked as if it was dropped on from a height.Cazzo wrote:.
