White Lettering
I'm sure I am going to embarrass myself by asking this question, but is there a trick for printing white lettering on a home printer (over a clear decal background for things such as driver names on windows)?

Re: White Lettering
You cannot print white ink on a normal 'home' inkjet or laser printer mate, because they print in four colour process - cyan, magenta, yellow and black. As there is no actual white ink cartridge, it cannot actually print white on your clear decal paper. That's why all of the models you see with 'homemade' decals have their window crew names on a black block - looks bloomin awful as well!
The only way to print white 'at home' is to buy a specialised ALPS printer, but they can be both temperamental and expensive. There might be one or two chaps on here who have them, and they might be better advised to pass on their own thoughts of these 'fairly trick' printers.
Good luck mate, but if you do find an economical method for doing it at home then you'll probably be awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award to Modellers!

Re: White Lettering
I was looking the other day on the net to see if there are any companies out there that will print white decals. I have found it and they do a minimum order of £10 which I think is fair enough. I have got a few things I need printing in white so I will give them a try first and let you all know what they are like. I would rather be the one to say they arent any good than put the link up and find I have wasted someone's time and more importantly money.
Re: White Lettering
Nicky, if you have indeed found an economical service for producing white decals on clear mate, then I think you will be held aloft by every member and paraded through the streets of the world with grateful thanks and acknowledgment to your discovery!
Maybe even the Model (pronounced 'mow-del') Peace Prize should be awarded under such circumstances?
Nice one fella - please keep us posted....

That made me chuckle David
I was just looking on the site of the company and they have some example images. Look pretty good to me. I will get some logos sorted that will come in use with some 6R4 models I plan on doing and get them orderd with them. Good to know they also do silver
Decal company
Re: White Lettering
Lol - glad it made you lol Nicky! At least I have achieved something today....
Red Firecracker eh? Zeus told me about them a while back - but not for white lettering but number plates instead. I never did follow them up for any number plates, and I make my own now anyway... ...how times change eh?

Try lindsay@code3models.com They can do as many as you want. 1/43 to 1/18. Done by emailing art work if you can via jpeg or PDF.
They are not waterslide but very thin clear vinyl so easy to apply. If you want to ring and dicuss your wishes/wants telephone 01792797007 and ask for Lindsay or email above address.
Hope this is of some use guys!

Re: White Lettering
Great minds and all that eh Paul?
I am currently doing my art work that I need doing for my one 6R4 model. Its taken 3 hours so far and still havent finished it lol Either I'm a perfectionist to get the logo drawn spot on, or I have way too much time on my hands! The other few logos wont take as long, hopefully

Re: White Lettering
You do indeed Chris, but Red Firecracker - www.redfirecracker.co.uk - can supply white decals for model makers - and that's what Ryan was referring to.
Nicky used the same company to supply his white decals for his Willie Rutherford 'Sanyo / Comet' 1986 RAC 6R4 model.
