IXO 1/18 Opel Mantas and BMW E30 M3s
Hello, I hope all are keeping well under the circumstances.
Any thoughts on the latest IXO 1/18 Opel Manta (3 Rothmans versions) and BMW E30 M3 (2 BASTOS versions including ADZ 9596!)?

Don't look great really-cheap looking! M3s look poor. AutoArt or Otto far superior!

Having had both the Altaya and Otto Mantas I'm going to be controversial here and say that £ for £ the Altaya/Ixo is better than the Otto. I had to go through 4 Otto 400s before I found one with acceptable decals and paint whereas the Altaya Frequelin car was 100% out of the box. Having said that the M3 does look rubbish!
Thing that interests me though with the IXO/Altaya 1/18th models is that the "full" range Ixo cars aren't really that more detailed than the partworks for the extra money. That certainly wasn't the case for the 1/43rds.

I think they great for someone starting out, entry level models to the hobby. Theres some nice models available to peolle that havnt a hope of getting models like the Revell Manta without paying big bucks. I see a lot more people starting to collect a few in this price range that would never have done so before havibg to paying big money one model. This price range brings these people jnto the hobby.
Now the quality is not there compared to the more expensive models, and thats ok provided they are cheap to buy. When someone pays over €100 or £90 for these without bekng modified then someone is being paying over the odds

Thank you for all the replies. Any advice on the best 1/18 BMW E30 M3 Rally models - I have seen a few Otto models but they are £££. I can't find any modified models on eBay - are there any dealers that might sell them. Stay safe!

as has been said above, for quality M3 you need to be looking at either Otto, which do a couple of rally liveries, plus a plain white base, (or Wedge which only did the base and the Bastos as far as i know, but are ultra-rare,) or if you fancy a bit of converting, i believe that Autoart and Minichamps did a few touring car examples, plus several plain road-going versions for a base shell... a higher quality thatn the Ixo/Altaya versions...but as said above Otto ones aint cheap...
