Rallye Festival Trasmiera 2017

Set in Hozanayo, 10 miles or so to the east of Santander, Nth Spain, this non competitive demonstration event like the Eifel is now attracting huge amounts of attention from crews all across Europe and was way oversubscribed with only 157 cars receiving an entry out of the 320 applications! There were 25 cars from the UK alone plus a great selection of cars from Slowly Sideways Ireland. The organisers also had five times BRC champion Jimmy McRae (Opel Manta 400) and Harri Toivonen (Sierra Cosworth) headlining the event. Held over a period of 3 days, this is a must see event for all rally fans

Just back from "participating" on the said event. Class stages, huge enthusiasm. For those on facebook you will see my in-car clip of the enthusiastic reception all crews received at the finish of the event. We stayed on for a few extra days and could not believe the value - its still off season there- you would not believe that if you saw my sunburn. Some dull days and some rain but also days that went into the mid 20's.  €75 per night b&B for TWO people sharing in a 4 star beachfront hotel. 4 beers for €10. 2 coffee and a cake or sandwich for €4.70.  The last stage is amazing - a 6km hillclimb rising from sea level to 569m with a huge car park on top with outstanding views all across Santander and Cantabria. Just competitors up there and we had to wait for last car to come up and then everyone goes back down the hill in a convoy. The spectators line the stage clapping and cheering - never seen the likes of it.
