Monte 2017
The new era begins!
Cars look and sound edgy and the Monte crowds look just as unruly as ever...

Re: Monte 2017
Ogier fastest in shakedown with Meeke way down.
Mikkelsen second fastest
http://www.wrc.com/en/wrc/news/january-2017/monte-shakedown/page/4217--12-12-.html
Meeke was being careful not to use/waste the snow tyres down on the lower stages, expecting more snow and ice higher up. They only have a limited amount of tyres so once used they are gone.
As Chris says the start of a new era...

Re: Monte 2017
Extremely sad news - a spectator has been confirmed killed on the first stage following an incident with Haddon's car. Haddon rolled his vehicle but at this stage its far too soon to speculate on the cause of the incident and tragic loss of life.

Re: Monte 2017
Ogier wins - dream start for M-Sport only slightly spoilt by engine problems for Tanak dropping him to third. Hyundai look the pick of the bunch so far but Ogiers extra 5% will keep him close to them. All cars bar Citroen look pretty evenly matched which is bizarre given Citroen took a year out to develop their 2017 car - i suspect they will be disappointed.

Re: Monte 2017
agreed paul.....nice to see a toyota on the podium after such a gap, but hopefully the differences will be so small to keep us guessing each event....early days....

Re: Monte 2017
Thanks to Billys link to the Red Bull TV I managed to see all the action. I know Mark Webber has Red Bull connections but why do TV companies persist in having a F1/GP driver as the expert analyst?
Amazing result for Toyota, way better than they expected.
Also for the performance of Elfyn Evans, Craig Breen and for Ford
Bad luck for Hyundai all round and for Ott Tanak - brillant skillls over the last few stages and a massive slide thru the finish on the last stage perked him up a bit
Despite wining Ogier didnt totally dominate, not winning every stage. But its back to the oldest quote in motor sport - To Finish First You First Have To Finish
Bring on Sweden..
