Could see Evans win his first rally and Ogier wrap up title #5

Re: Rally GB 2017
One stage left - baring a Carlos Sainz for either we should see Evans take victory and Ogier wrap up title #5 (Ogier seems to be content to remain in 3rd now and confirm the championship ahead of Australia)
The fog made a massive difference on day 2 - changed the whole dynamic; reminiscent of GB back when WRC was last gunning to top F1 in the early parts of the noughties

Re: Rally GB 2017
I was just trying to count possible scores, 3rd and Neuville 2nd does secure the title for Ogier doesn't it?
I've not been able to get rallyradio all weekend, but the live stage on redbull TV yesterday was nice.
An Evans win would be great, for him and his family, for DMack and perhaps even the whole sport in the UK/Ireland too, it would be great if some of the media following of 20 years ago could return

Re: Rally GB 2017
What a rally for M Sport. Drivers and manufacturer's titles and the event win. Great for Evans and DMack and what can you say about Ogier? Easy to dislike at times but no denying his amazing talent behind the wheel, yes he's had some luck this year bouncing in and out of ditches where others have retired but having started the season with little real testing and then to win the Monte to go onto scoop the drivers title in what ostensibly is a privateer team is incredible.
Hoping Evans win and some new found pace for the Citroens for Kris and Craig in 2018 will raise the profile of the sport a little in this corner of the globe.
Really sad not to have been able to attend this year but seen lots of videos over the weekend. Think this one more than others illustrates the speed and commitment of the current crop of cars and drivers:

Delighted for Evans and MSport, its great for DMack and nice to see Ford as champions too, hopefully they can find a few $$ somewhere to actually back the team properly again.

Re: Rally GB 2017
One can only hope after this yr that the FIA don't further seek to prevent Ogier from winning title #6 - given they sat around and made things easier overtime for Loeb it really takes away from just how GOOD the current crop of top line drivers are by hobbling the best in the world so they can't truly show how they fare when he's let off the leash

What rules do you feel favoured Loeb? And what rule changes where made that you feel hamper Ogier?
I'd like to see running order looked at again but its hard to figure what system works properly on all events.

Re: Rally GB 2017
Running order primarily including changing the running order for days 2 and 3 - changes introduced after Ogier won his 2nd championship. They have also sought to turn rally into a sprint not a rally. Oh yeh and the change to the power stage points - increasing the points available to further increase the chances of Ogier not winning
Further Loeb should have been pinged for his illegal recceing in 2006 but that is all ancient history now

Interesting that both Skoda and M Sport fell foul of the scrutineers post event, yet escaped with fines rather than exclusion that has been meted out in years gone by.

I missed this, what issues were there?
Can you remind me about 2006 Tumbo, I can't remember a thing about it!
Does the ERC still do qualifying stage and then fastest first to select your running order? I thought this was a good solution, not a power stage fan myself, favours those with least to lose ie not the event leaders.

Re: Rally GB 2017
Just back from a rally in France but had time to follow what was happening on Rally GB
Absolutely fantastic result for Elfyn
Personally the season has been much more interesting with lots of different winners (drivers and cars) and not before time.

The first part was the way that Kronos were able to access all the data from Citroen despite being a separate company etc and specifics around the rules. The second was the issue around illegal reecceing which came out in 2007. End of the day history shows he won; he certainly scored more points and all this despite his having to sit out rallies due to injury - the only blemish on what is an amazing and incredibly difficult to achieve feat
