Trofeu go Irish/COI
Just been sent an email by my model supplier.
COI Coleman 76 Escort and McRae 87 Sierra just launched. No pics of models yet just pics of the actual cars.

Why bother doing Coleman escort when you and Kevin have already released it. They must be stupid.

Well as part of my deal when I bought the base models all those years ago was to supply the artwork for the decals and six sets of my decals-I'm surprised it was not brought out sooner.

So what's the story with the guy planning this lot http://www.minitec.pt/MINIpartes/COI/R%20COI.htm ??? Is there going to be a glut of COI cars coming on stream??
Re: Trofeu go Irish/COI
I emailed him when this first was spotted and the answer is yes, but over many years.

Trofeu wanted copies of my McRae MK2 Decals. I said no, but still got the base models

Is that a KMD sierra pic they are using on their releases?

Re: Trofeu go Irish/COI
Can hardly blame people wanting to release Irish rally models as collectors consistently appear to be happy to pay higher than the average on Ebay etc for this genre. Why are there Polish and French guys and now a Portugese model shop producing COI and other Irish models and not say British Championship ones? Possibly because the ITC and National Championships are some of the strongest outside of the WRC however I'd take it as flattery and guess there are more potential customers for a Coleman COI Escort than already have one. Any initiative that can get models say like the Airikkala Chevette produced is ok in my book however based on Trofeu's glacial production rate I for one wont be holding my breath.

Re: Trofeu go Irish/COI
I know there are Chevette models are around.
But was I told or did I read somewhere that licensing issues is the reason why no more have appeared.
Presumably General Motors still hold the historical link to Vauxhall and the name Chevette???

Is that why Trofeu haven't made more use of the existing HS mould? Examples of the 4 releases are being offered at crazy prices on Ebay. There are so many versions they could have done even if they used the Arena decals (Chris Lord, George Hill etc) however as usual they have failed to spot the opportunity.

Spotting an opportunity and being able to use one is not the same, if it is a licencing thing then perhaps Trofeus hands are tied?

Re: Trofeu go Irish/COI
True David that's why I asked. I know several model builders who frequent these here parts have had dealing with our Portugese cousins and may be able to shed some light. To me they are an incredibly frustrating brand but can understand that if in this case it's GM asking for too much coin.

Re: Trofeu go Irish/COI
I asked Andy Howdle at Rally Models about this one...
Trofeu Chevettes were IXO models refinished by Trofeu, they only had a limited number...
Trofeu don't have the £ to produce new moulds, so no HSR unfortunately
..was his reply.
So anyone want to chip in...
