Re: Subaru Paint codes
.
Is this the standard Impreza blue all the WRC cars are painted in?
I'll have a look on the laptop in work tomorrow and list the codes,
Halfords can be hit & miss, just depends on the guy mixing the paint,
If its to paint a model then it should be ok.... I wouldn't use it on a 1/1 scale lol
.
Edit, It's just came back to me... WR Blue 02C
I'll just check anyway and update

Re: Subaru Paint codes
The colours name is Subaru WR blue pearl, and found a code 02c. Got it mixed up today. Havn't sprayed it on a model yet, but there is a little spill over when he was filling it and it looks about right. Once its close enough to the colour match it should be ok.

Re: Subaru Paint codes
Thanks. Have a 1/18 solido impreza that i want to repaint in proper subaru blue and add a bit more detail to it. Whats the best way to get the colour to work? Im thinking primer, few coats of silver then 02C on top

Aerosols can be tricky to use so the paint finish varies,
The main thing is to have the primer as smooth as you can get it + heat the model just enough to take the cold out of the metal,
Too warm and the paint drys too quickly and has a dry/dull finish,
If it was me I would key/rub the models original paint with scotch brite fine pads and paint over it with the colour then lacquer it,
This way there wont be a build up of primer/paint layers + its less work, really you are just using the original paint as your base,
It's the way 1/1 scale is done so shouldn't cause and problems, you can get scotch brite fine pads in Halfords, motorfactors or ebay,
Also as it's 1/18 I would clean the model down just before you were going to paint it with panel wipe,
This will remove silicone or any other contaminants that will effect the paint, silicone shows up as pin holes in the top coat also known as fish eyes when they are big/deep enough,
