Paint Spray
Anyone in the UK will know its quite difficult getting spray paint posted to you.
Halfords use to make up a spray can to your specification but they have stopped doing this now. Any yellow colour they could not do anyway because of the chrome/lead pigments.
BUT the good news is Halfords will still make a spray can for you to order. It takes about 5 days to come through.
Just ordered some BL/Leyland French Blue colour from the 1960s and I would have to say that its the best spray paint I have come across. It sprays nicely and the finish without any rubbing down is remarkable.
You just need the name and number of the paint, and its £15 up front.
Mean while back to this Rover...

Re: Paint Spray
That's great news to here, Chris - many many thanks for sharing your findings.
Do you order the paint from store then, or via another source? If via store, does it come back to the same store for you to collect?
What's this Rover I hear you talk about?

Dave
I ordered at my local Halfords store and it comes back for me to collect at the same store about 5 days later
This Rover....mmmmmmmm...mmm well its for the current owner in Australia and one for Bill Price. Its the Marthon de la Route Rover 2000 Bill Shaw Racing car from 1969.
I have all the bodies done with the massive rear wheel arches, decals done, just trying to sort out the interior. Having no photos doesnt help!!

Re: Paint Spray
Great stuff, Chris.
Did you flare the wheelarches yourself? I'm in the process of doing the very same with a certain Ford Ka andwill follow that with a couple of Fiesta Evos and even a couple of Mk1 Golfs!
Can't wait to see the Rover.......
Cheers, Steve

Re: Paint Spray
Many thanks, Chris - will bear Halfords in mind if ever I need a special mix of anything.
Looking forward to seeing your Rover once finished - it should make a great looking model.

Went for a wander into the local "The Range" store yesterday and I see they sell rattle cans. Quite a large range of them too so tis somewhere to think about if you need up to date car colours.

Re: Paint Spray
Well guys, the mk1 Golfs are two models of the Golf prepared and raced by Jordan Bowes, very sadly recently departed. I'm making a model for my display and also will build one for Jordan's parents, Stewart and Janet, whom are wonderful people still coming to terms with the tragic loss of their 19 year old son. Well, we all are still trying to come to terms.......
Here are some shots of the Golf and also the Mini Clubman that Jordan and Stweart raced. I've already built a 1/43 replica of the Mini which is in Stewart's trophy cabinet.

The Fiesta is the Mk 3 Fiesta of Dave Ewin, a wonderful chap who competes in the supermodified rallycross championships in both the MSA British Championship and the BTRDA too. The car is far from standard, being rear wheel drive, running mk2 Escort running gear mated to a Mitsubishi Evo (3, I think) engine.

As you can see, I'll be using a lot of Milliput with these beauties!
But first, some more Milliputting it about finishing the bodywork of Lance Foster's Green and White Minis Mini Clubman. Without a roof! Got hit up the backside by an over-amourous BMW twice at the 2016 Rallycross Grand Prix meeting at Croft and the result was the roof detached.
Cheers, Steve

I heard of that, life cut tragically short. Nice sentiment.
