Delta S4 to appear at Race Retro

I was looking at this car today and what a beast the Delta S4 is close up

Has anyone found a full entry list of the cars taking part on the rally stage at this weekends Race Retro?

Whats the history of the car and who owns it now? There was a very good replica at Race Retro a couple of years ago as well but will be nice to see the real Mcoy...

It was Red and did Monte 86. went to David Sutton collection and now like this. I did get a tingle sat in a proper Group B car

Interesting car.
The car used to belong to Ignacio Sunsundegui (Sun Sun D Guy) from Spain. He was a very wealthy man who I had the pleasure to meet on a rally I was officiating on in Spain. He spoke no word of English but it was very clear he wanted all us marshals to come and see his collection of cars in Hondaribia in Northern Spain.
The collection was in a big industrial unit, covered in dust and his man was pleased to see us and let us in. We had the run of the place. Renault Alpines, as Citroen Mehari we managed to lift off the floor between 4 of us, a Paris Dakar Range Rover I think, loads of classics and then this Lancia Delta S4.
It is NOT an ex-works Martini car. It’s a Stradale (Standard Road) car brought by Ignacio to enter the 1986 Monte Carlo Rally. It was mildly prepared by a Lancia mechanic to take part on the rally. It was painted red as this was the colour most Stradales came in.
Ignacio was absolutely chuffed that we liked all his cars, and so were we to be asked to see this private collection. I have some photos I will dig out sometime
Sadly Ignacio passed away whilst taking part in a Historic Rally in America. The collection included many cars based at David Suttons who had been preparing many of them. Then this collection was disbanded and I think it was Gary Midwinter??? who purchased the Lancia Delta S4. It was at Race Retro in 2013 but was withdrawn with some problems.
Monte Carlo Rally 1986
After the 1st leg (Classification Run), 43rd o/a
After the 2nd leg (Common Route), 27th o/a
Retired on the final leg and in accordance with the Monte regulations at the time was classified as 70th.
