Group B Models wrote:Can someone help me with a research I’m doing: I`m trying to build some group B cars, that run in the Middle East championship from 1984 till 1988.
One of those is Bin Sulayem Toyota Celica Twin Turbo, from 1988, co driver Ronan Morgan (from Ireland).
If anyone have pictures of this car or knows anyone that could have attend these rallys and taken some pictures, please contact me.
I am looking for similar type photos - Rothmans liveried rally cars in the Middle East of the late 80's and early 90's. If you come across anything of interest let me know and i will do likewise. There is a guy on Forum-auto the French site called carsascona who posts a phenomenal amount of photos. I contacted him and he is Greek and he promised to send me a disk with photos. It never arrived - that does not mean that that he did not send it. You might try him.
If you are on facebook there are a few groups with a large number of 80/90's photos and group B photos pm me and I will give you the details. I did come across a guy with a Greek name late one night who had 1000's of photos. He had over 5000 "friends". It was late and I have not been able to relocate him.

Still have not finish the model, but for those that like to try it, decals are available.

Re: Group B models : new models
Excellent news Vitor - that should make a very nice model indeed!
I note that on the above decals the white is printed with all of the other colours! That should make it a lot easier for anybody contemplating building one of these models for sure.

Re: Group B models : new models
Yes David. These ones are a little different. More easy to apply, but also a little bit more expensive to make them.

Re: Group B models : new models
I cannot see the extra cost being a major problem to model makers, especially if the end result is a lot easier and therefore less stressful for them Vitor.
Re: Group B models : new models
Ordered my decals from Vitor today.
I watched Will Gollop's 6R4 unloading in the paddock at Lydden the first time he used the new paint scheme (the blue and red 'Mobil Metro' livery and at that time, was still using the front aerofoil (and very few decals.... making it an easy model to make, methinks!).
Can't wait to get my Gollop 6R4 collection finished - one from each season is what I'm aiming for, but other plans (including unbuilt kits, stage shows, work and family life keep getting in the way! Can't wait to see Vitor's finished Mobil Metro. Talk about going by faith - have been so pleased with Vitor's decals to date, I've bought the decals without seeing the finished product! Cheers, Steve

Re: Group B models : new models
Has anyone seen Vitor's decals for his Martin Schanche RS200 from 1991?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Decal-Ford-rs200-Martin-Schanche-Rallycross-1991-1-43-/230799335267?pt=UK_ToysGames_ModelKits_ModelKits_JN&hash=item35bcb65f63
Here's the link to his eBay auction. Looks like a tidy model, but I'm not going to 'pollute' my collection with anything with a blue oval on it!! I've got some green ovals, of course, but nothing 'Amerigerman'.
The heady days of rallycross at its best: 1986-1992. Love 'em. Cheers, Steve

You're very welcome, Vitor. Many of us on this Forum admire your work and this is another stunning example.
I'm attempting to get hold of some donor 6R4s for my next batch of rallycross models; some with Vitor's decals and some with my own. The thing I'm having difficulty with is deciding which ones to do first! I'm finishing off a Mini Clubman road car (that's a proper Mini, without BMW genes in it) and my Ternco prototype kit at the moment. Am slightly nervous about placing the decals around the window on the latter model. I'll have to bite the bullet and go for it! Steve

safari rally
To all those that love the safari rally please help me if you can:
I am looking for a picture of the Toyota Celica Twin Cam turbo of legendary driver Sandro Munari in the 1984 Safari rally.
This model will be interesting, being the last event he did in his career.
The car hood has a few sponsors, and those are difficult to see.
Hope someone have a scan from a magazine.

Re: Group B models : new models
Hi Vitor, any news on the Gollop decals? And how is the build going? Can't wait to see it.
I realised I'd jumped the gun a little bit by sending you the money for the decals before knowing if they were ready or not, but please let me know when you'll be sending them out.
Very many thanks, Steve
