Cowley wrote:Quite right Juha - the Unipart side graphics are indeed different on the 1986 CoI entry, and it was still RHD for that event as well.
The CoI car was his 1986 BRC entry (Reg No C997 LCA) prepared and run by R-E-D, but his RAC Rally entry was an Austin Rover Motorsport, Cowley prepared entry (Reg No C96 KOG) - as I'm sure you knew.
Here's Dave's PJ Code 3 version of the CoI car - hope you don't mind me reposting this here mate?... It looks like PJ has incorrectly based his on a LHD base model!
No prob at all mate, yes its lhd, but I have a rhd 1000 lakes car

I trust all of our 'Metro-heads' have picked up one of these NEW IXO models?
We must prove to them that it was worth releasing otherwise they might not make another...

I bought 10 so I did my part!
I should take a group pic of those base models, it would put MCM to shame.

Ooooer Juha! I was feeling guilty about buying the one, as it's a duplicate with the PJ model I have had for a long while now. Fascinating seeing the differences in what should be two identical models.
Do take a piccie of the group, please. Would be bizarre to see that many together but not sitting on a shelf in a shop!
I've already got a few (15! ) RHD models to use as donor cars and will convert the bodies and dashboards as I go along according to the needs of the model I'm making. Should keep me busy for the coming months!!!
Cheers, Steve

I'll gladly swap some for a few items of MCM's collection, but he doesn't want to.

Good scoop that, David! Our friend the bay of E, perhaps?
Juha, I hadn't seen your base model photograph before now. That is quite some stash you have. At the rate I'm going, that would represent a lifetime's work of repainting and decalling!
I can now consider my 15 strong 6R4 base car quite modest, doubly so given David's accummulated 12 of the LHD Unipart cars. I'm off for a long weekend so won't be progressing with any of my projects, whether 6R4, Rover SD1 or Mini-shaped.
Cheers, Steve

Re: COWLEY'S BACK, with a SCOOP!...
Not via eBay actually Steve (Hampton Caught), but a dealer who was keen to clear some stock. I just happened to be in the right time at the right place.
Thanks Steve (srsmodels) - as I said above, just perfect timing on my part!
