2013 PARIS RETROMOBILE

Possibly the best classic car show in Europe Paris Retromobile is always in February.

Now in two halls the quality of the real cars is very high, the quality of the stand presentation typically French, the model car section over whelming and the ambience just incredible.

You will be lucky to find any bargains but dig carefully and you never know.

Remember the Piranha Models Mini discussed on this forum a while back? I had been looking for one of these for ages and at last I found one. It’s been very well built and felt even better when I got it down from 69 euros to 50!!



What would you do when confronted with model stalls like these….

After the show we went off to visit the Le Mans for the Museum, three models shops and a quick few laps of the circuit, then onto Rouen and a quick few laps of the old circuit there.

This Mini was found in the Le Mans Museum

Well done in finding the Mini. Looked a class show. I'd have left pennyless (oh sorry already am) bankrupt.

The Mini turned out even better than I thought.

I removed the price label this afternoon, it had 109 euros underneath the 69 euro sticker. So 50 euros was a steal!!!

That looks like a fantastic show

Just back from a bit of a marathon but well worth it. Flight out of Dublin at 6.30 am yesterday meant no sleep on Tues pm/weds am. 2 hour bus journey to Porte Maillot in Paris and a 45 minute Metro journey to the gates of the Exhibition centre saw us arrive at a truly amazing show. I have photos which I will post up on facebook and hopefully someone can copy them on here. Exotic and old cars, rally art in all its forms, rally organisers and some clubs, upmarket wine and furniture makers, some autojumble type stands and the most amazing selection of models and model makers.
The reutrn journey bagan at 6pm (local time) and arrived back in Dublin for midnight. Really well worth the effort. Met two other Irish on the journey and one Irish former competitor there looking for bits for his Renault 5 Alpine. Wish I could go back with a much bigger budget !!!

Heading back to see if it really is as good as I remember it. Same drill - Ryanair day return from Dublin.

It's every bit as good as I remember If there is one show I would recommend to forum members it is this show  I hope the attached photos do it some justice Just a few teasers for now I have about 50 photos so would like advice as to how best to get them up here

In the main yes but I managed to get proper 1/43 figures for 1 euro each and bases at 10 euro and 15 euros Also got some bits from Arena at eBay prices without the crippling postage charges . Some of the larger scale models are breathtaking but so are their prices I particularly like the automotive art Just not enough hours in one day . There is a very definite French bent to everything so don't go expecting Fords, Opels, MG etc to be as plentiful. That said I failed to find a Peugeot 504 Break - the non 4 wheel drive estate

Finally got around to sorting out some photos from Paris Retro 2018

Perhaps not the best I have ever been too. It was noticeable more than ever that the model stands carry mostly new or recent products only, not much older stuff. There were a few of the older stalls missing this year. Prices are high.

But it is still a stunning show that knocks every classic car show in the UK into touch

I had a cunning plan to visit Retromobile 2022 on my way home from Rally Monte Carlo Historique earlier this month but Covid, not for the first time, scuppered those plans. Not to be beaten I have booked my flight from Dublin to Rally Costa Brava in mid March to go via Paris and you guessed it, Retromobile on the Wednesday. Those on facebook will have seen that this route actually saved me a lot of euros compared to a direct flight but that's a story for another time.

I see that Arena will be there as will a number of others. My only problem is that any shopping/bargains could prove costly as they will be travelling on two flights. Any one got Charles de Gaulle airport duty free plastic bags !!!!

Called briefly . Not as many or the variety of models as was there in previous years.
