Ixo/Altaya 6R4 lamp bracket removal
As title says, has anyone got any tips for removing the lamp brackets from Ixo/Altaya 6R4s without damaging them? I need to re-use them for another model

Hi Simon,
I haven't got an answer for this but am interested in any feedback anyone has.
I have made lamp brackets from scratch using a couple of small pins, but it was a lot of effort to create the effect and it wasn't 100% successful!
Cheers, Steve

This is what I do, although it is more reliant on Plan B than the often unreliable Plan A...
Plan A : Drill them out from behind using a 1mm drill in a pin vice, whilst trying to preserve as much of the 'peg' as possible.
Or if that doesn't work, and virtually all of the 'peg' has been drilled away, I revert to...
Plan B : Clean off what is left of the 'peg' from the back of the lamp pod bracket, and glue it carefully at 90 degrees to the end of some Evergreen 1mm cylindrical plastic rod. Once dry this is then placed into the 1mm hole on the bumper, glued, and once dried, trimmed off on the inside. After a careful touch up with silver or body colour Enamel paint - job done!
Hope that helps Simon, although I always tackle them with Plan A in my mind, often reverting to Plan B when that fails though!

Thanks for the tips Dave & David. I had thought about soaking the whole car in hot water in an attempt to soften the glue, but not tried it yet?!

Do you think the acetone would damage the plastic Lamp Bracket Dave?

Tried the 'soak in hot water method'... degree of success?.... 0
Everything else on the model came away easier- windows, lights, spoilers, but NOT the Lamp Brackets!!! back to the drawing board
