Ask Steve (Hampton Caught), as I'm sure he's stripped one Mark, but I don't know to what sort of 'depth'.
Be careful though whatever you do, as they're resin not diecast.

Re: Neo Metro easy to strip?
Hi Mark,
Yes, as David rightly suggested, I have stripped one down and will do another later in the year. And it was a full strip down, repaint inside and out and decalled to finish off.
It was a few onths ago when I took my heart in my mouth and started to unscrew and prise open the inner-most parts of the model, but it is well worth it. The base model is fantastic, beautifully proportioned and detailed.
Once you have removed the chassis, everything else is glued in place. Very gently prising apart with a sharp knife and a steady hand repas great results. One bit to watch for is the rear parcel shelf, which is moulded together with the rear seat as one part. This glues down onto a horizontal piece running across the rear part of the body. The seat belts are separate items, the grill can be prised off and then the headlamps. Even the side repeater lights are small sticky metal and paint items which I'd removed and restuck after spraying.
I didn't strip the paint, I sprayed on top of the silver, having removed the strip decals with a finfger nail very carefully.
I sprayed the dashboard and seats then made my own decals, having photographed my own car, and used phitos of the interior to decal over the seats, headrests, door cards etc. I even photo'ed the front grill and number plates of my car, a 1983 Vanden Plas 1300 in Cahmere Gold, and placed the deacls over the original model. The wheels were easy, as my car has MG pepperpot alloys, which were an option for a year (1983, when my car was built), so put black Vanden PLas logos over the red MG badges on the wheel centres.
Need any more detail, just ask!
Happy stripping, Mark!! Cheers, Steve

Re: Neo Metro easy to strip?
Mark, forgot to mentio, the windows are individually glued in, and push out with some very gentle easing from inside the model. The wipers are also stuck on, including to the 'glass', but the rear one is set too high! Yuck!
Even the door locks are individual decals, and I've re-used them too.
For my car, I didn't need the rear spoiler, so filled the holes before painting. Lovely!
Can't wait for the next NEO Metro releases! Mk 2 MG metro Turbo anybody? Yesssir! Steve

Re: Neo Metro easy to strip?
Thanks Steve
I have two options
1 cut up for parts for the shop diorama or make as a bare 6R4 shell with the panels cut as if they are about to get the box arches on
Just need to decide whether to buy one as a lot of money but it does indeed looks nice shell

Wonder if some 6R4 box arches would fit nicely

Hi Mark,
I guess anything can be made to fit.... but why would you when there are excellent 6R4 models out there already, albeit Mark 2 cars rather than Mk 1? What have you in mind? Do tell, do tell!!

Re: Neo Metro easy to strip?
I wouldn't mind buying one of these MG Metros and making the first Williams designed 6R4, or even the Trevor Reeves rallycross car...
...far too much on at the moment to contemplate such projects though!

David, I'd been wondering about the Trevor Reeves car after responding to Mark's earlier post. It was a distinctive looking car, beautiful proportions and I can remember in the early 80s painting a Corgi Metro in his colour scheme.
I'm surprised by how few photos of the car there are online. I had a trawl last year with this project in mind, found a lovely B&W shot outside the factory and one of the engine bay, which was less helpful, but there's little in colour and nothing close up that I can see for making decals up. Unless you know better!! If so, please PM.
Cheers, Steve

Re: Neo Metro easy to strip?
Couple options
Rallycross metro
Or make a 6R4 replica roadcar but with seats in the back which I have a spare ixo car and some interiors
So it looks like a roadcar with a 6R4 bodykit on

No Mark, No! Don't do it! Someone's done that to a scale of 1:1.

Or, just maybe?
No, no, whatever could you be thinking of!! Sounds an interesting proposition, Mark. How is the EVO Metro coming along?
Cheers, Steve
