Mal's Motorsport Emporium
Am I the only one that can't seem to do just one model at a time?
Just a glimpse of what is underway at this moment in time.

Re: Mal's Motorsport Emporium
Your not on your own Mal, I seem to have several on the go at one time, do a bit on one then another day feel like doing a different one.
trouble is I never seem to get any finished
I think I've got at least 12-15 different models 'in progress'

Re: Mal's Motorsport Emporium
As a mate tells me, I need to build more than I buy.
These are the kits in the 1/43 collection, not even going near the 1/24s or the 1/24 & 1/18 decals.

Re: Mal's Motorsport Emporium
Yep I'm the same guys, always have four or five on the go at once.
It makes it like a mini production line doing it like that as you can always 'batch work' each individual task together hence saving time.

Re: Mal's Motorsport Emporium
Mal,
Thank you for posting your pictures. Next time the better half says I'm taking up too much space/ have too many models already or that I 'don't need any more models', I'll find your pictures and that should end the 'discussion'!
That is some collection you have there, Mal. You must have quite a bit of money tied up in those kits!
I've decided that for every 6R4 I convert/build this year, I'm going to make one kit up of something else. That way I'll start making a dent on my ever-increasing collection of unmade kits. Nothing like your collection (though I'd like that!!) but maybe setting yourself a realistic target would be good to help you make some headway?
I've not had more than two models on the go at once (yes, I'm a light-weight), but I think if I had too many on the go, I'd muddle the parts up or be frustrated that I wasn't making progress. I prefer having no more than two on the go and seeing them progress to the display shelves.... but we're all different!
Cheers, and all the best, Steve

It was going to be a Solberg car, but the decals are crap so I have some 'other' ones on the way. Although blue, not factory.

That is the car parking area - Things not being worked on at that moment. To the right is the actual work area. The mat you see is 880mm x 580mm so you can only see about 200mm x 200mm. Sooooo, clean your desk

Re: Mal's Motorsport Emporium
Hi Mal;
what kind of tamiya coloring pens are you using? I also have some of those which I sometimes use to do the window surroundings in black. but they either fade or difficult to dry.
are you having any difficulty
cheers
Omer

Re: Mal's Motorsport Emporium
Ive used Gundam markers in the past. A bit free flowing but having picked up this recommendation from either this site or the predecessor site (cant remember which) i cant complain. Better than humbrol paints and a super fine brush is my only referenence point.

Re: Mal's Motorsport Emporium
Omer, there are two Tamiya silvers, great for doing window chrome stuff, and the black one is a Testors. First time with it and a poor substitute to the Tamiya ones. Don't think I will waste my money on them again. I also have Gundam markers and they seem ok.
In that first photo I posted, I was not showing the actual work in progress area. Here is what was there. Started life as a 1/18 Aa '98 Portugal Sainz car. Decals were totally stuffed so needed to do something with it. Only kept the side and bonnet 'Castrol's, the rest is new. Since Aa did not do the Catalunya car, that is what it ended up being. Some decals are a little oversize but I am still happy with it.
