Mitsubishi Evo7 Gp N, Xavier Pons, Rally Mexico 2004, 1/18
Hi guys;
started this project long ago...
Xavier Pons & Oriol Julia Pascual
Mitsubishi Evo7, Group N
2004 Rally Mexico
finished 5th in PWRC
http://www.ewrc-results.com/final.php?e=51§ion=9&t=PWRC-2004
In 2004 season, he collected 27 points and finished PWRC 4th place with this car...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xavier_Pons
luckily this project doesn't need much painting besides the trunk
below are some WIP I would like to share with you all and looking forward to your comments
first I applied the decals, and then gave a long break since was in need of some parts... so, it was sitting on the bench for a long while.
the trunk was in two colors. upper part in red and the lower part with Repsol livery and colors.
but I feel like the decals won't do the justice. so I decided to paint the red part and white color as a base for the lower part where Repsol decals have to sit...
and here is the result of the trunk
after all, I gave a layer of clear coat.
next step was to find similar gravel wheels and need tires. so, I used wheels from a Sierra Cosworth with gravel tires coming from a Peugeot 206 WRC.
I also fixed the rear quarter of the exhaust to have a correct look. I have also painted the whole exhaust system into light gun metal. but no photos at the moment.
this is wip of the exhaust...
and last step was to buy a donor mitsubishi wrc for the interior and dashboard parts...
I am hoping to finish the model soon...
here is a quick mock up to give you idea guys..

Looks great, will be good to see the end result. Did you use a road car base or a rally car base?
