Subaru Impreza WRC, Rally Catalunya '98, Verreydt, 1/18

Hi guys;

Starting another long breath taking project...
before, I add up some WIP, just would like you guys to guess what car is this?

A subaru

mercedes ?

Toyota

Chassis is a '02/'03 Subaru by the look of it.

soon comes the WIP....

so, time to unveil the model and some ideas about the project

this is the base model I am using in this project



disassembly in the house...



next thing was to remove all the tampo prints...



painted the interior and the floor panel into matt white in order to match the original car...



and then started with the body. first the primer...



and then start painting the car with silver leaf



red rear bumper



red bonnet and trunk



oooops more red is on its way
red body



whooooollllly Red!!!!

colors might give you guys an idea.
anyone can guess the car?

I haven't got a clue whose car it is going to be Omer, but that looks very impressive!

Can I ask..... Why do you use Silver Leaf as the primer, and is that ONLY on red cars?

That's the car I was thinking of Doc - I just couldn't remember the driver's name.

i love the way these 1/18 models strip down so much!

Should have picked an earlier version. All I had to do was put two and two together seeing as your questions on wheels in the other thread.

Are you willing to sell a copy of the decals? I have a few Subies and Corollas spare.

Thanks David! I also think this is an impressive car in original

so, regarding your question, actually the first layer is white primer. then I painted the car into Silver leaf. the reason is that I would like to have a Bright and shinny Red. so after the silver leaf I applied the Bright Red color. and finally, the clear coat.
I have to say, the result is very satisfying.

I think you can use this recipe for all bright colors. such as yellow, light blue etc..

yes, I am hoping to replicate the Smoking Kill sponsored Verreydt car. but the decals I have in hand are from Honduroz Coy rally while I would like to replicate the '98 Rally Catalunya...

and yes, thats 1/18. I don't collect or build any other scale at this moment

Mal, I dont have the full set of decals made for this car. what I am doing is mix and match some 1/24 and 1/18 decals together and ask my friend to design the missing decals
so, I don't have any copies for both the Subaru and the Corolla...

No worries Omer, I only meant the Subaru (have a spare Corolla for the wheels). I can always buy a Studio 27 set and a mate will re-draw them in 1/18.

With the spare Corollas, I have decals for two I need to do at the moment.

if I am not mistaken, these decals should be from Reji in 1/24.
how can your friend re-draw them in 1/18? do you mean re-scaling the 1/24 to 1/18?
have you guys done this earlier? how are the end results of re-scaling and the more over the quality of the resolution?

besides, what spare corolla decals you have? I may also be interested in for corolla's

and one more question about corolla's. I need the whole rear axles/suspension system. I broke the hub fittings while taking off the 6 spoke wheels.
any chance you may have a spare rear axles system for sale or swap?

part of the decals are in 1/24 scale by Reji (I guess). and I also have the main sponsor logo decals in 1/18. so, I will be merging them. the left overs will be made by my mate Halil in 1/18 scale.
