Subaru Impreza WRC S12, Kris Meeke, Rally Ireland 2007, 1/18 AA
Hi guys;
I know Sunstar just released this model of Kris Meeke. but, I like AA quality way better and bought the decals couple of months ago from P&J models. frankly to say, I really like the quality of the decals compared to many other decals I bought from different companies.
I am having a small issue to decide how to build the model since I have both blue and white plain body impreza's of AA ready for this project.
Considering the value of the blue and the difficulty of the white it took me too long to start this project. and now I am trying to make it more difficult and time consuming for me to start the project.
so, here is the question, shall I use a white plain body AA 1/18 and paint it with Tamiya Mica Blue leaving the white parts unpainted? I do not want to use the white decals since there are large parts that needs to apply decal. so, I think paint is better solution and result compared to decal. here goes the same for the black parts....
if I use the blue plain body, then I need to paint the white parts and black parts. and need to use white interior and floor pan.
but if I use the white one, the cost of the model will be way cheaper compared to the blue ones getting rare and more valuable. so, for the white one, I need to tape carefully and give it a go with Tamiya Mica Blue....
besides many other pending projects, I guess I am trying to make it harder I am hearing you guys telling just buy a Sunstar ))
what you guys suggesting for the future project?
cheers

Simple answer Omer is what one is cheaper to get. You skill painting and custom building will result in a great finish whichever one you use as a base

no probs,yeah i see the pic changed now.
hard choice to make which base you use omer,im no good at spraying but if i was i would use the less valueable white car and tape the white decal area's up for spraying blue. just my thoughts. will look great either way you do it!

.
Tough call to make Omer ,
I would use the blue base model as most of the Meeke car is blue and then paint on the white and black bits,
This should give you less work and make it a wee bit easier/quicker,
You could also paint the roll cage white while you are doing the parts on the car,
Trick wee build this one but having seen you builds so far I'm sure you will make a class model out of it

well, you guys expectations make this model more difficult build for me
thank you guys for all the supports.
I will try to finish some of the models on my bench first to have more space for this one and then will give it a go...
stay tuned

I would have said dark gunmetal. Photos show them not to be black. When looking at photos, compare the front wheels to the area of black panel immediately to the rear of the wheel.

omer, looked a bit closer at mine today and mal's desciption is a bit closer to the mark m8, dark gun-metal grey won't be far away if you go for that............

Looking at the decal sheet, I was thinking that if I did this, the blue would be my base.

Re: Subaru Impreza WRC S12, Kris Meeke, Rally Ireland 2007, 1/18 AA
guys;
anybody has the photos of the original car of Meeke? front, rear and sides if possible.
I figured out that there are some differences in between the original car and the earlier code3 builds...
so, just wanted to follow the correct details.
anybody has the original cars photos please stick it in here!
thanks a million
