thanks guys for kind comments, not sure how they'll turn out but as magnus magnusson would say................................i've started so..........well, you know the rest!!
sean, just stripped m8, apart from the rear spoiler; i have yet to perfect the stripping of plastic bits without ruining the plastic, so i just sand with fine emery paper and apply top coat....i know what you mean about edges, i have one wee bit about 3-4 mm along a rear arch which will need touched in, or if i'm lucky a decal will cover it lol!! just have to be careful not to rub to hard m8................ (did i really just say that??!!)

Re: bmd's projects....or attempts should i say!
the decals come in two parts m8, a dark blue background (already applied) then the white lettering on a very light blue backing sheet...but when i removed the decal, the lettering was so transparent you couldn't see it hardly at all....this is a result of my copying the whole original decal sheet onto clear decal paper then printing..... i'm sure the original 1:24 would be fine...........

Re: bmd's projects....or attempts should i say!
I'd completely redo the sunstrip as one complete decal, printing the dark blue background on white decal paper, and leaving the white lettering devoid of any colour. The white decal paper will then give you the white lettering you need mate. You will just have to cut it all out very carefully.
Re: bmd's projects....or attempts should i say!
ah thanks m8, sounds like a plan, just bought a couple of sheets of white decal paper the other day so i'll have a go...might have a go at printing those other decals as well, the ones i pm'd you about, which wont show up on a black model when printed on a clear decal sheet; might be worth a shout, plus i want to fill the decal paper with something to avoid wastage....(not that i'm a tight git you understand... )

No worries mate - happy to help if I can!
Another top tip re printing decals... Group your decals in the top inch or two across the width of the decal sheet. That way you will only print out that top inch or two, trim that off with a scalpel along a straight edge, and then you will be left with a slightly shorter sheet of decal paper to use next time.
Job's a good un!

Re: bmd's projects....or attempts should i say!
Just don't keep printing and trimming so that it leaves you with a strip of decal paper too short for the printer to grab and feed through the rollers!
Cough cough, ahem ahem, not that I've done that before of course!

ah thanks col, if you were holding it in your hands you'd see its a bit rough round the edges, joys of my half-assed painting plus using up-scaled 1:24 decals copied onto paper..... but overall it will sit nicely methinks, had a spare mk2 anyway and the decals didnt cost a mint, so no biggie, i should be happy enough when its done...
cheers m8 (ps i sent you a pm recently m8 but my sent box was full, so maybe you didnt get it?

Looks great Billy, dont knock your work at all. That looks cracking so far!
What i do is create a document in Illustrator thats A6 (or A7 depending on what i need), then place all the decals im printing onto that document. Then all i have to do is cut my A4 decal sheet into 4 pieces for A6, or 8 pieces for A7, and put that small piece into my printer and print away.
Illustrator knows to print in A6/A7, printer knows its printing A6/A7 so never have any problems
