Re: bmd's projects....or attempts should i say!
thanks dave and brian
they were a set of 1:24 decals for a tamiya kit, just happened upon them a couple of weeks ago, and decided immediately they would be bought and the finsished version would become the sweden car....just need to re-deign the roof spoiler, its going to be a pain as it was almost finished and i was chuffed with it.......ah well, with the proper decla kit it will be worth it in the end methinks.......
cheers lads!

Re: bmd's projects....or attempts should i say!
and a wee bit more done to the UT 94 cossie....
not happy with first application of the red decals, for some reason the black and blue ones are perfect but the red and yellow ones have come out very faded...i may apply another decal on top, or replace these ones, or even might consider painting it... but also need to apply microsol to the front bumpers to try to iron out wrinkles - not holding out much hope tbh. don't know if the fading issue is with my printer, or the decals.... ah well..........

Billy, good work with the Pug, though be careful because the photo you linked to is from the Monte, not Sweden. They have it wrong. Note the 'Paris' above the door plate.
With the faded red/yellow on the Cossie, it is because the decal is thin and you are getting the silver coming through. Either a white underlay or more of the red/yellow decals on top.

Re: bmd's projects....or attempts should i say!
As mal said, its the silver showing through thats causing the fading. Black and blue would be considered strong colours, so the background colour doest show through. Red, and especially yellow are weak, and would let the base colour come through. Ideally, these should be printed on white, but thats not always possible.
Another option is to print on clear, print the outline on white and cut it to shape following the outline. Apply the white, then apply the red over it (like what the guys at jawi do). This may work for most of the red on this body, but the Red Bull writing will be difficult

I know where you are coming from. I am doing a silver Subaru for Dr Tumbo and I am sure in my head I have tossed the shell over the back fence a dozen times. What doesn't break you makes you stronger or some such crap.

that is so nicebmd wrote:a wee bit more done to Ari's 205........managed to source a set of decals from 85 Sweden..so upscaled them and they fit fine.....slight changes required now include having to change the flat white roof spoiler to a curvier black item, trimming a bit more off the corners of the front apron (the Swedisn one was a smaller item), and changing the decals on the rear quarter-panels..this won't be too hard as the new decals come complete..... i'll start these three jobs next few days, but this is how she's coming....its slow but am happy so far...
