It's the 1st of May today, and we all know that....
...May is METRO MONTH!
I have been waiting years for a 'large scale' MG Metro 6R4 model, and this month my prayers will finally be answered when French company Otto release their 1/18th scale Didier Aurioil / Bernard Occelli 1986 Tour de Corse '33 Export' liveried version above!
I have no idea... What I will do with it?... Where I will display it?... How it will sit amongst it's baby brothers and sisters?, or indeed... What I will do with the 2nd Otto 6R4 model that I bought via the 'OttOmobile Club International' (due to their limit of two cars per member)?...
The Otto 6R4 is going to be my very first non-1/43rd scale 6R4 in my collection, so I will be treading on very new ground when it eventually arrives - I still cannot really imagine or visualise how big it is going to be! There is also a great deal of speculation whether Otto will release any additional liveries due to the fact they have always been very French marque, or French driver obsessed! Maybe we won't see anymore 6R4 releases from them?... Maybe they'll produce a Computervision entry from the 1986 Tour de Corse?... Who knows?...
To be honest, I don't really care! I am just so pleased that each member of the (somewhat thriving!) MG Metro 6R4 model collectors market, will soon have a 'large scale' model to form a centrepiece of their own respective personal 6R4 collections!
Personally, I can't wait!

So am I right in thinking even though we paid for them well before the 20th April pre-order date, and that we received a confirmation email Billy, that there is still a chance that we might not actually get them? If that's the case, then I can see this being a very very VERY long month - waiting without really knowing!

Are you saying you didn't pre-order one Dave?Zeus wrote:If your stuck for space you could always donate your spare to me David

I knew you weren't that bothered about them anyway Juha - something to do with the scale, and the black wheelfans wasn't it?
Re: It's the 1st of May today, and we all know that....
It's nicest livery on a 6R4, ruined by the black wheelfans. But that's just my opinion on it.
Re: It's the 1st of May today, and we all know that....
Fair enough mate...
...but the black wheelfans are accurate.

Quite right Juha - and only half of Stage 1 of that event lol!
Re: It's the 1st of May today, and we all know that....
Can I assume that you have retired halfway through Stage 1 then Juha?
Re: It's the 1st of May today, and we all know that....
Yes! And still not short enough to end up in my top 3 of shortest rallies.
Re: It's the 1st of May today, and we all know that....
Oh dear!
At least you can look back on it and laugh now, but I reckon you didn't at the time lol!

If it wasn't for some late night exhaust manifold welding with Deep Purple playing in the background, it's a 6R4 that would have taken top spot with a non-start between scrutineering and recce. That spot is now being held by a Clio refusing to start after scrutineering, a Corsa/Nova deciding it's had enough on the way to SS1, and a broken Mazda clutch 5km into SS1.

That quite a variety of early retirements Juha - fingers crossed you've had them all, and now you can look forward to all of your finishes and victores.Juha wrote:If it wasn't for some late night exhaust manifold welding with Deep Purple playing in the background, it's a 6R4 that would have taken top spot with a non-start between scrutineering and recce. Does anybody know when we can expect to receive these models?...
...I'm going through 'cold turkey' whilst waiting in anticipation of an impending delivery!

My Sunbeam arrived from Otto on the 20th Feb after pre-ordering so guess anytime after Sunday might be a rough guess for the Metro!

Cheers Billy, and I guess then that all 2000 didn't sell out in pre-orders to Otto Club members then?
Thanks Chris - that's the rough date I had in my head as well!
