Richard Burns
As you maybe aware I am a massive Burnsie fan. I have been collecting these since 98 when I saw the Safari 98 car in a model shop in Cardiff. Will start with the commercially available ones in 1/43 before we get onto the code 3 issues. I will do these in release order.
So here it is the genesis, Portugal 97 by Vitesse as competed on SS1 with tarmac wheels.

2nd release was the first in my collection. Love this model. Once again by Vitesse, this time the Safari 98 winner

3rd release also by Vitesse was still a Carisma GT but in the Evo V shell, took me a while to source this Argentina 98 car

Re: Richard Burns
Last Vitesse issue but one of the first with the Skid branding was the Rally GB winning Evo V. Needless to say I wanted this as soon as I saw the picture in Rallysport or CCC mag. I think it was bought from Midland racing models if you remember those

Re: Richard Burns
1999 saw Richard go back to Subaru. Trofeu done the 3 winners. This Acropolis was the easier one to find as it was a standard issue & a Prodrive special edition

The final Trofeu issue was the 99 Rally GB car. This was available as a individual release or part of a Prodrive twin set with the Kankkunen 2nd place car

2000 Saw 5 models released first was this beautiful Trofeu Safari car. Was the last win for the 99 spec car on the last event for it. These are like gold dust to find nowadays

Final Trofeu release was the Rally GB winner. This was done as a standard issue & Prodrive edition. Possibly the easiest to find of the 00 spec cars.

Re: Richard Burns
At the intro to 2000 I said there were 5 issues so heres the final part of the puzzle. Not sure if its acceptable on here as its a race car made by Onyx. Richard had a one off guest driver appearance in the Pirelli Porsche Supercup. If you know the outcome maybe I should have photo'd this on the roof

Re: Richard Burns
2001 As you know was the year, Richard was World Champion. There are 5 different cars to get all by Ixo. They really treated us, even if the casting wasnt the most accurate.
First up the season opener, Monte Carlo. This was the first Ixo model full stop after taking over from the old Vitesse group

4th release was the New Zealand car, the last WRC event Richard would go on to win. This was also available as a cheap partwork with unpainted interior.

Final release was the Champions podium set. I have had the figures repainted on my example as I wasnt happy with the original

Re: Richard Burns
2002 was a frustrating year. Some good results but sadly no wins. Richard joined Peugeot and there were 2 models issued.
First up Ixo done the Monte Carlo car, really nicely designed model:

Re: Richard Burns
2nd general issue was made by the new Vitesse group, no relation to the old one. Not a fan of the casting but the only 02 Rally GB car available, so I had to get it,

Re: Richard Burns
2003 Started with optimism to build on the progress from 2002. Sadly we all know how it ended up. Richard was on the pace all season despite no wins, although his one win was taken away. 2 available once again. Ixo made the Monte Carlo entry.

Re: Richard Burns
Vitesse made the Catalunya car. This was the last time Richard would compete on the WRC & sadly it would end in retirement. I have applied the tobacco livery & corrected the flags as the Vitesse model has French flags. Its not a "rare" issue if it has these on there just sloppy manufacturing by Vitesse

Re: Richard Burns
After Richard untimely passing there have been a few models issued, Corgi done a 6 car set. I havent purchased the RAC 95 or Monte Carlo 99 cars as I have other examples of these.
The first one to get was the Talbot Sunbeam, Its a nice model, captures the shape well. There are a few details missing but it accurate to how it was restored at the time of manufacture.

3rd issue was the Peugeot 309 from the 91 Lombard RAC. One of my favourites in my whole collection. Just wish I got more of these when they were cheap to make the other entrys. Getting hard to find now, the prices are going up.

4th Corgi was the 93 Manx International & BRC Winner. Great model if a little under wheeled so I modified mine with Ixo wheels.
