Re: Circuit Deja Vu Easter weekend Killarney 2017
First of all, thanks Sean for the pics. Superb. I've had so many looks through them. They're excellent.
It's nothing but a superb, amazing collection of models - easily the best I've come across. Fair dues to everyone involved - to James & Donie, ye must be, deservedly, well chuffed with the display and it's richly deserved after the huge effort ye put in.
Well done to all. Stunning work.

Superb displays a credit to everyone.
James is there any chance this event could morph into something like the Eifel Rally Festival? Would be great to see demo runs of famous Irish cars/drivers on closed "stages"!!

Probably should only have been a once off. It was a vintage run without an organising club. Number of entrants well back on last year - probably closer to what they were actually expecting in 2016. But public enthusiasm undiminished. Can't see it running in 2018 but I said the same this time last year !!!

Very smart James. Those Sierra Cosworth Rothmans cars in the earlier pictures looked very nice indeed - how were the ProRallye43 decals?

Decals were spot on thanks. Used one as is , the other was partially usd for the stripes etc to create his Cork 20 winning car - looked really well. Thanks for the help. And on that note can I acknowledge the help received from members of the forum including yourself. As we had the 2016 cars on display can I also give a mention to Brian who was a huge help when i was under pressure this time last year. Maybe our glass was too shiny but taking photos was not the easiest with reflections and glare !! So two of the display cases got little attention from the photographers. I will upload what I have for them.reeft1 wrote:Very smart James. Those Sierra Cosworth Rothmans cars in the earlier pictures looked very nice indeed - how were the ProRallye43 decals?
Looking at Sean's photos , photo 8 is the Beguin collection, photo 9 is the Coleman collection and photo 10 is the Al Hajri collection with the two Rothmans Sierras.

Is the capri a one off James?. It deserves to be on a raised plint.

Maurice - it is a one off. It was on a small plinth. But there were so many others that deserved a plinth. I bought two display cases on ebay and Donie and myself extended them and inserted glass shelving to greatly increase the capacity. We had them on a table and maybe they should have been raised higher. Donie had excellent external lighting but I will play with internal strip lighting to see if I can improve them.

Great stuff James. A serious effort put into whole weekend. Unfortunately we didn't make it down or we wont make it to the lakes either for the first year in a long time.
I would think that the capri would be one of the most viewed rally cars that appeared on Irish stages. It seemed to be 00 at every event.

Hope you doing OK - we are Monaghan bound this weekend.
I put up a picture of the Capri on Facebook and it got a huge reaction.

Stunning display! Well done to everyone involved. Lots of long nights in sourcing images, building the models, getting them on display just right, and putting them back in their boxes again.
Pictures dont do them justice at all. Looking forward to seeing some of these in the flesh.
Unfortunately, I wasnt any help this year due to circumstances but maybe the next 'event' ill be back available for the 2 or 3 (that becomes 12/13 ) models. In the meantime I have those other long standing models to get back too.

Re: Circuit Deja Vu Easter weekend Killarney 2017
Not sure where to post this little snippet but this thread is as good as any other. Sorry if I have repeated this story elsewhere. You will have seen Bernard Beguin holding a rally plate in the pictures earlier. That plate I bought on ebay and he confirmed from tell tale markings on it that it was the original plate from the front of GXI 9427 from the 1987 Tour De Corse. He had 5 similar plates presented to him as a gift/thank you at the end of the rally and there is now one of these 5 with the car here in Ireland. I have just bought another one on ebay from the UK with an original Beguin autograph on it. So its either the rear plate or another one of the 5. Its a genuine pressed steel plate. Does anyone on the forum collect rally plates ? If so are there replica pressed steel plates out there ? I have been monitoring ebay pretty close and these are the only two I have ever seen.

James Id say Bernard B did not simply sign any randon plate. For it to be the rear plate it should have rivet holes. He would have signed the presentation ones whilst at the rally.

Re: Circuit Deja Vu Easter weekend Killarney 2017
Front plate was riveted, rear was taped on. I showed him the one I had and he was able to go straight to the rivet holes to confirm the number and placing of them and so confirming its authenticity plus he had one other identifying item on the plate. The 5 presentation ones were given to him for him to keep or whatever so it was a big deal for him to bring one of those to Ireland and hand it over.RORY O CONNOR wrote:James Id say Bernard B did not simply sign any randon plate. I just want to be sure that there is not someone out there producing knock off copies.
