Yes Chris, and its a convertible now!!
In the Retro Rallycross final on Sunday afternoon, Lance Foster went a bit 'agricultural' and in the process, got tagged on the nearside rear corner. He'd already had attention from another competitor on the offside rear and as a result of the rear being given a squeeze and a push, the roof popped off in its entirety! It had been bonded on through rather than having a mechanical fixing, so Lance finished the race and returned to the paddock 'al fresco'.
I have pictures and will have to send them to someone via email as I've never got to post pictures on posts myself!
Driver of the day, across all categories, has to be Stewart Bowes in his Mini - the way in which he overtook Terry Maynard's TR7 V8 around the outside of the first two bends, Clervaux then swept around the outside of Hawthorn Bend before just about making the sharp left-hander to launch along the loose at the chicane - awesome!
Superb weekend - sorry not to have met up, Mark. Will have to try at the 2017 opener at Croft in March!
Thanks for posting the piccies, BTW. Great record of a wonderful meeting.
Cheers, Steve

Paul, afraid to report that the mk3 Escort is not a Gartrac car. It's Ray Morgan's rear wheel drive Escort with mk2 running gear. He reshelled the oily bits from his Mk2 about 25 years ago and he's never stopped campaigning the Mk3 ever since. I have made a model of the car about 2 or 3 years ago and Ray was delighted.
Thanks to Chris for posting the photo of Mark Flaherty who was delighted with the 1/43 scale version of his Focus mk2 supercar. It was a shame he didn't have the car with him at Croft as I'd have had a photo of the car, the model and Mark all together. I'm currently making a second Focus model which I'll keep for my collection so maybe next season!
Cheers, Steve

Thanks for clarifying Steve.
Have you any plans on making Schanche's Mk2 or Mk3's or Godfreys' Fiesta from their championship winning years?

Paul, I'm delighted to confirm that's a yes all round. Ok it might take a few years. ...
I was fortunate to meet Mike Endean (Mr Xtrac) at Lydden Hill 2 years ago when I was displaying my rallycross model display in the VIP hospitality area during the WRX meeting. He invited me to take photos of the mk3 Gartrac Escort which he has restored back to how it was when Martin first used it. I should pull it together during 2017. I hope!
I've compiled many photos of Shanche's mk2 and have a donor model waiting.
Godfrey's Fiesta just has to be built with the garish green and pink livery from 2015. Again, I have the photos compiled but will have to start by rebuilding and adapting a road rather than rally donor vehicle. I have this waiting too.

Re: British Rallycross Championship Final Round and Grand Prix
Me too, Paul!
First I have some ther projects to complete. I'm currently working on two models of Tony Lynch's 2016 Supernational Ford Ka (one for him, one for me!), a second Flaherty Focus (for me), the James Harrold retro rallycross Beetle, a rebuild of the Flaherty 6R4 model for Mark (which seems to have bounced from meeting to meeting!), the 1970 World Rally Austin Maxi of Rosemary Smith (she's expecting to see it at Race Retro in February!), two works Leyland Sherpa rally barges and the mk1 Transit and Mini Clubman rallycross car for Graham 'Struggers' Strugnell. Hoping to get some more of the current Retro Rallycross cars completed too before the season gets too far gone.
After that, some more old rallycross cars (Schanche x 2, Andy Bentza's Lancia Stratos, Trevor Hopkin's RS200, John Taylor's Fiesta and so on. Plenty to be getting on with! Plenty of variety. Oh, and there's always more 6R4s to do!
Cheers, Steve
