Tour and Tarmac Events
The following cars all appeared in events which featured a mixture of race and rally circuit events or pure tarmac rally events - The 3 main "Tours" were the Giro d'Italia, the Tour de France and the Tour of Britain. The Italian version sees a lot of Prototypes and Group 5 cars appearing in the Road Rally/Circuit events, the Tour de France was a mix of Touring Car and GT/Sports cars in its earlier years, becoming more akin to a road rally event as we moved in to the early 70s. The short lived Tour of Britain was a chance for straight from the forecourt style cars to show their sporting prowess. Other Tarmac only events were often used to test prototypes of forthcoming rally cars - some of the Fiat/Lancia/Alfa cars were the forerunners to some of the group B monsters.

Very pleased with this. Spark Porsche 935 which won the Giro D'Italia in 1979. Nice touch with the spare/different front bumper which i'm guessing was required for the roads between stages/circuits.

Re: Tour and Tarmac Events
Paul I had the good fortune to do one day of the Autoglass Tour with Chris Lord when it came to Ireland in 1989. If you come across any photos of a Sierra Sapphire with #11 on the door I would be very interested. Thanks James

Autoglass tour
James,I had the honour of stewarding the entire Autoglass tour.
I made friends with everyone on it because it was a small entry!
A great fun event!
Bryan.

Paul
Some nice new additions there
I dont think I have ever seen an Alfa 33 looking like that!!
Whatever they did to the roof and airbox didnt do much for its looks.
You learn something every day....

Paul
No it was the Alfa Romeo 33 sports racing car I was thinking of like this one I saw at the Spa/Stavelot Motor Museum a couple of weeks ago. A pretty good looking car in its own right
As you say the Alfa 33 road car is something very different and just a stunning looking car.
