Re: Bus Collectors
My late father gave all his bus collection to my eldest son Jack and the showcase. It stays at mams but it was something my dad promised before he died.
I got a bus done for jack as we always go to Jersey in the Channel Islands and at the time a company called Connex ran buses so I had a guy make one for me.

Guilty. As charged! Usually 240 Volts.
Didn't someone mention something about buses ages ago?
I think this particular hijacking has arrived at the terminus. Much more, Billy, and we'll get a ticket to ride. Oh no, definitely time to stop if I'm quoting the cr&p four!

Many moons ago we passed a very pleasant evening having banter on Ye Olde Forum disucssing the provenance of the Hungarian Rothmans bus. It turns out that it was an Ikarus bus and Realcarmodels in Hungary is building one for me. He must be starting with the chassis as he is taking many months to make it. You will all be invited for a spin on the bus whenever it does materialise - a kind of forum ride.
In the meantime the Soda team bus has appeared.
What I am assuming Donie is asking about is the Rothmans bus that was used by the said team on Irish events. The only photo we have is a very limited view of it from a RallyRetro service area photo in the Cork 20.

Great idea for a Forum spin, James. Just make sure the route doesn't involve a lot of hairpin bends going up (or down) a mountain pass. I remember seeing a very old 'documentary' with a group of car enthusiasts, Minis were their thing, having a nasty experience in their coach. I'm not sure, but there may have been a problem with a large consignment of 1:18 models risking overbalancing the whole coach! As if? Don't know how it ended, though. Maybe they're still there!? Hmmm!
Back in a few days - having a lads long weekend skiing in the French Alps. Hope the transfer from Geneva doesn't involve a coach going up.........
Cheers, Steve

Re: Bus Collectors
I know what you mean, Billy! The 'soda team' sounds fun. Even more so with a spirit or two thrown in!!
I will take care, Billy, no fear about that.... right up till I launch myself down a black run!
If it does go wrong, I've got time to heal up before the next stage production (High Society) just so long as I don't bust anything I need for my model making!
Cheers and speak soon, Steve

Steve
Just back from reccing a rally in France and saw your comment about buses, whilst out there.
I know that Chris CDM Derbyshire has dabbled with buses, but don't know if they were his own or a commission, to be fare. To be fare! geddit! scratch jocolor
I have done a number of buses for one person. Personally I dont know one end of a bus/coach from another, but he is an old rally sport friend from the media side and just something I do for him a mid much piss taking. Some of the old model casting really were shocking, but these modern ones are OK if a little delicate.
Cheers
Chris

Re: Bus Collectors
When my father was alive he had this made 1/50th scale as he drove the full size one. All pics where taken from the one at Kirkleatham museum and a friend of mine in scotland repainted the bus and another friend in cumbria made the decals.
