newbie in the forum
Hello everyone! Greetings from the Philippines! I was able to join the previous forum that was very informative and missed it a lot. I just learned of this new forum. Happy to have a forum dedicated to rally models! My interest are the escort, manta, and Ascona.

Thank you for the warm welcome! The escort, manta, and ascona are special for me because those cars were the cars I dreamt of having when I was a kid. Those cars were sold here in the 70's and we're popular until the 80's. The parts became difficult to come and eventually most cars were neglected and scraped. There are still a couple exist but mostly on the hands of the enthusiast. The escort are popular again but there only a few left.

gaz_bass on here still drives a manta, as did I until two years ago when I finally sold mine after 18 years ownership.....was a tough decision but probably the right one.... the opel manta owners club has a large membership and there are more mantas surviving than you would think.....you should google OMOC and take a look....

Sorry about your manta! I am sure having it for 18 years, it was hard to let go. I am sure it made your wife happy. Yes, I was able to look at few sites and I think it is still popular maybe a big part of it is parts accessibility and a bit more affordable on your side of the world. Germany seems to have huge following too. Thank you! It is nice to know a little bit more on the other side of the world.

Re: newbie in the forum
cheers m8, yeah Germany is the place for mantas and getting parts etc.... uk owners have to rely on ebay a lot.... there's a site called 'Dr manta'....the guy who runs it bought many of the original opel moulds from the factory when production ceased, so his new parts are 100% original.... though he is a bit expensive...
