Re: Carlo Decals
Having missed out on the flurry of white 6R4s with wheel fans earlier in the summer, and only having one 6R4 in my collection with them on, I am in need of a few sets to achieve what I'm after.
David, thanks for your offer of contacting Mark. I am aware he's away from here for the time being, hopefully not permanently, but I wouldn't want to hassle him whilst he's on hols. There's no rush (have plenty of other projects to get on with, as you know) but would be good to know what the prospects are for some wheel fans are in the future. I know I'm not the only one looking for them!!
Paul, you're quite a production line, aren't you? Like you, I could crack on with all manner of models if I had time and opportunity to concentrate on them without work and minor things like that getting in the way. That said, I wouldn't want to go to the lengths you did to get time off work to do some model-making! A bit extreme, I think!
Cheers, Steve

Re: Carlo Decals
No problems Steve - I will keep you posted when I hear back from Mark after his holiday.
How are you getting on Colin?
Despite popular opinion chaps, this topic was actually started by Colin as he was looking for some advice about using Carlo's decals!Rallycol wrote:Guys I have never used any of Carlo's Decals before and would appreciate some guidelines on how best to proceed!
Thanks

Re: Carlo Decals
Excellent news Colin, and I am pleased that you enjoyed reading the ramblings of a handful of 'seasoned professionals'... ...sorry I meant 'down & outs'!
Here's a useful little Image Shack tutorial that Nicky wrote about uploading photos to the forum. Hope it helps Colin...

Here is Andy's model using Carlo's decals - which reminds me I must get some more decal softener!...

The bonnet stripes look the hardest to apply with the compound curves of the humps and bonnet, and then those that wrap around the front bumper / spoiler corners.Cowley wrote:Here is Andy's model using Carlo's decals - which reminds me I must get some more decal softener!...

I think I'll leave them for a very rainy day!

Sorry to appear a bit dumb, but, what does that one look like? I've tried Google Imaging it and not found anything claiming to be John Brown's 6R4. Can anyone help?
Cheers, Steve

Re: Carlo Decals
I added a second photo Joe as the first one I posted was in 1987, and his livery had evolved to something a lot simpler by then. The top photo that I just uploaded shows the car at the start of John's time with it on the 1986 Wyedean Stages.
Just look at all that decal work around the front spoiler, aerofoil and those 'pigs ears' as they are commonly known!

Re: Carlo Decals
I tested my Tilly decals a while ago, the amount of adjusting required was... zero, the drawings were spot on.Cowley wrote:I pity the decal maker more!...

I don't measure my models to calculate what size every logo should be. Instead I took pictures of the Ixo model and used them to create templates which are resized to match the model. A different way, but very quick and effective.
