Re: Carlo Decals
In fairness David the 6r4 decals are quite straight forward.. If you take the likes of fishers silver impreza or mchales manta.. these are a little more technical.Cowley wrote:Not had any ripping issues myself Gary, or even a sense of it about to rip, but then again I've only used them twice.
An order will be going in to Carlo soon, so I'll keep you posted if I have any issues.
Re: Carlo Decals
be interesting to see what the colour is like on the darker models,it would of bleed through abit. suppose to be better now thou....time will tell.

Re: Carlo Decals
Yeah I reckon it will as well chaps!
It's not on the rally shown in the photo though, but the 1987 Audi Sport Rally instead. Not a great deal of difference...

Re: Carlo Decals
Oh, so you got a set of those too?
Yours will be ready first as I haven't tried making the bigger air scoops yet.

Re: Carlo Decals
Hi Guys
Can I ask for some help please
As a beginner I can certainly vouch for Carlo's decals.
I have completed 99% of Roger Clark's Audi Sport 6R4 without mishap. I have changed over the chassis to forest but as this is the first conversion that I have done, how do you depict the wheel nuts etc or is this done with a decal? Also as Juha points out & as David's picture shows how/where do I find/make the larger air scoops?
Thanks to everyone on here and on the old forum who examples have given me the impetus to try this.
Regards
David L

Errr! Third that! I'll have to get a set of those decals myself. I'm presuming the decals don't include individual red lines which you have to match up but are instead printed together on wider, white-backed decals! That would make more sense, I think!
Cheers, Steve

Re: Carlo Decals
I usually make my own wheelnut decals David - as does Vitor for his models as well. If you're using the gravel rims though, couldn't you just find a set from one of the models that IXO tampo-printed the wheelnuts in place, rather than the basic white versions on the Altaya models? Alternatively, I might be able to supply you with a set of wheelnut decals.potiman wrote:I have completed 99% of Roger Clark's Audi Sport 6R4 without mishap. I made some of the larger side window scoops from plastic card for my Llewellin 86 Manx model, David. I think they were cut from a sheet of 0.60 or 0.80 thou plastic card, shaped on the three edges, and then glued onto the side windows once I'd removed the original clear side window scoops from them. They aren't actually hollow, but I painted the front face black so that it looked like an intake. I have had several requests to make these scoops for other people on here. Sorry but as I said to them at the time, I need all the ones that I can make for my own projects for the foreseeable future.
Re: Carlo Decals
Carlo's decals feature an overall varnish Steve, so it's up to you if you want to cut out each stripe separately, and apply them one at a time!Hampton Caught wrote:I'm presuming the decals don't include individual red lines which you have to match up but are instead printed together on wider, white-backed decals! Seriously though, you're right - just trim them out as one complete block.
Re: Carlo Decals
Cheers David for the info, I'll give that a go. Nice one.

Re: Carlo Decals
No problems David. Have you seen the larger scoops I made for my Llewellin 86 Manx car?
Re: Carlo Decals
I may have seen it without taking particular notice of the larger scoops though. Apologies for that. One thing I have learnt on here is to pay more attention to the minor detail & how it is achieved.

Oh yes, I really like them! Shame you haven't got any spares. I could use a pair or three, just as a template you understand.
Nice model

Re: Carlo Decals
I've seen David's handiwork with the larger air scoops and they are very neat, perhaps even better than the photos show them. Thanks for the reminder of what you used to make them. I need to follow suit sooner or later!!
The photos also remind me - we need someone to make some 6R4 wheel fans! I asked Mark several times if he was going to make some more but he didn't, so I'm still looking!
Cheers, Steve

Re: Carlo Decals
Thank you chaps - most kind of you!
Mark's away in Jersey at the moment Steve, but I will email him when he's back and see what his plans are for anymore wheelfan castings. I do know however that he is taking a break from the forum, and posibly modelling as well for a bit. I'll let you know how I get on.

Re: Carlo Decals
i must say these new decals from carlo are great! no issues whatsoever, usually you dont have alot of time to position the decal but so far (and im on the 3rd model) ive had loads of time to slip the decals into the correct place.

How about repainting the wheels from the Ixo models?Cowley wrote:Mark's away in Jersey at the moment Steve, but I will email him when he's back and see what his plans are for anymore wheelfan castings. Re: Carlo Decals
Yeah I'd thought of that option as well Juha. It's a little fiddley though, and those tarmac rims don't like the tyres taking off, as the paint seems quite soft on the rims.
I have about a dozen sets of Mark's wheelfans, but they're already spoken for...

Re: Carlo Decals
So your suggesting take the tyre off, and then respraying the complete wheel and wheelfan as one item, prior to refitting the tyre once it's dry? Mmmmmmmm...
...it's possible I suppose, but I don't think I'll bother. That's more down to the fact that I don't need to at the moment, as I already have enough of Mark's wheelfans anyway.
The rims on the '33 Export' cars do seem to have quite soft paint on them as I mentioned previously, although I must admit that I haven't checked what the rims are like on Andy's plain white base models - which is where you're getting your wheelfans from.
