Re: awfully quiet lol
Been busy tonight testing a Cortina Lotus, Cooper S, Mustang, Cobra Daytona, MK1 GT40, Maserati Birdcage, Austin Healey and a Metro 6R4.
All cars I can't afford so I'll have to settle for their digital counterparts.

No it's not Mark - it's a sunken ship, broken in half with a gash in it's side!Beaney wrote:lol im fed up hearing about the titanic... its a broken record now.. god love ye billy lol
I cannot see what all the fuss is about the T*****c documentaries, the 3D film or the TV mini-series anyway lads, I mean it's not like we don't know already what's going to happen in the end do we? It's like knowing the punchline before someone tells you the joke!

That sounds like an interesting evening Juha - please tell us more......Juha wrote:Been busy tonight testing a Cortina Lotus, Cooper S, Mustang, Cobra Daytona, MK1 GT40, Maserati Birdcage, Austin Healey and a Metro 6R4.

Re: awfully quiet lol
I knew you like playing Richard burns rally Juha but didn't know you played rfactor aswell! haven't played it for a while mind. Might start a new topic about pc gaming see if there are any more on here
Re: awfully quiet lol
I enjoy rFactor a lot more, I just end up crashing in RBR. I was please when I succeeded in drifting a Plymouth Barracuda all the way round Bathurst. Then I destroyed the engine after 3 laps.
Despite the car being overweight, the Plymouth is the one I like the most. You can get it sideways before, during and after the corner, and get away with it. It works fine in a Cortina too but it lacks grunt to make up lost ground. The 911 RSR is a joy to drive as well, whereas the 3.1 Capri and BMW 2002 handle like sh.t.
I just wish the AI drivers were a bit better at racing each other. I can turn it upto 120%, start dead last, yet I'll still sail past them in a single lap around Oran Park. They're like a long and expensive traffic jam.

I finished CMR 1, 2, 4 and stopped halfway through 2005. Then I switched to track racing. lol

Re: awfully quiet lol
Wait until I tell you know what my steering wheel costs. You can get yourself a nice KMD model for that money.
Then I'd need a proper seat, and higher spec computer. lol

Re: awfully quiet lol
Many thanks for the clarification Juha, and to be honest, I think I'd prefer to imagine you testing the ACTUAL Cortina Lotus, Cooper S, Mustang, Cobra Daytona, MK1 GT40, Maserati Birdcage, Austin Healey and a Metro 6R4 rather than playing a PC game!Juha wrote:It's rFactor, a racing game. Oh well, I think I'll just unsubscribe from this topic now and leave you all to talk consoles, games, seats, steering wheels and cheats!
Re: awfully quiet lol
Somebody mention Steering wheel?
This is mine, its a logitech G25 with modified wheel, carbon paddle shifters, quaife nylor gear knob etc. Bought the wheel on launch day for about £300 so you could always get some nice models for that amount.
I havent played rfacotr in ages. Been playing dirt3 abit. Done some skins (liveries) for the 6R4 on dirt3. Also play gt legends now and then and also rbr (richard burns rally) which is still the daddy
Here is a video of me in rbr on gravel in the group A impreza.
And another of me on tarmac in the escort cosworth but using my Eamon Boland skin I made for it.
These were me using the steering wheel and using the h-pattern gearbox and clutch pedal on my setup. Bloody hard work I can tell you but very satisfying when it all comes together

Re: awfully quiet lol
Im afraid not Beaney, used to but dont play it anymore.
Cheers Paul, it takes a long time getting the liveries done but they do look great when all done and correct in the games. Ill try and find some pics of the 6R4's that I have done for dirt3.
Juha, I know what you mean with a newer higher spec pc. I am looking at getting one soon which will easily cope with modern games and shouldn't cost much more than £500. I only need to build a main tower, I have keyboard etc and use my led tv as my monitor

Imagine the cash you'd need for that!Cowley wrote:Many thanks for the clarification Juha, and to be honest, I think I'd prefer to imagine you testing the ACTUAL Cortina Lotus, Cooper S, Mustang, Cobra Daytona, MK1 GT40, Maserati Birdcage, Austin Healey and a Metro 6R4 rather than playing a PC game!
Although I do know someone who has most of those cars, at least once... Last year at the Spa historic races he was out on Saturday morning in the first race with a Mercury Comet, had no suitable car for race 2, in race 3 he was out in a Courage C62 (a modified Porsche 962), race number 4 in a Cooper T51 F1, race number 5 in a Mini Cooper S, race number 6 in a John Player Special Lotus 92, and he ended the day with the 6 hour race where he was entered to drive the Mercury again, and the GT40 which he had qualified on Pole Position. Sunday morning, no car for race 1, race 2 in a Mclaren M18 (one of those huge orange CanAm cars), a Lotus Elite, the Cooper T51 again, a Lotus 15, another race in the JPS Lotus and the end the weekend he wheeled out a Bizzarrini. The previous year he showed up with one of the first F1's built by Williams and a nice Cortina, and he also did the Sebring 12 Hrs in a LMP Prototype, Le Mans in a Ferrari 458, Dubai 24 Hours in an Audi R8, Spa 24 Hours in a McLaren, and he has driven a BMW CSL, Corvette Sting Ray, ... I reckon all he lacks is a D-Type, because it's a gorgeous car and he could do the remaining two races with it!
Obviously the man has a VERY VERY good job...

I'm mainly driving for fun so I'll keep it as it is. I stopped racing online because my computer couldn't cope with the latest requirements. I wasn't too bad, but my style was a bit too aggressive. I was always the last one to hit the brakes, that worked fine in unsophisticated cars though. My favourite races were at Macau in WTCC cars. My qualifying usually sucked but I'd outbrake anyone anywhere on that track.
