Hi everyone,
Hi everyone. My name is Andrew Grimes, from Limerick. I have mainly been collecting rally programmes and rally plaques. Also have a massive rally sticker collection gathered over the years. Am now venturing into the world of models. Have got a few 1/18 and some 1/43. At the minute I dont have a preference for either. See where it takes me. Thanks.

If Rothmans is your bag, then check out James O'brien's collection!

Re: Hi everyone,
Hi Andrew, Welcome on board. Many on here, while they collect models also collect automobilia, myself included. Your collection of rally plates intrigues me- I have come somewhat late to these but I have a few. Hope you made it to Millstreet - its well worth the effort. i unfortunately can't - this year.

Hi James. Just a few of what I have. I'll need to pull out more. Collect all types of plates, door cards, signs, programmes, banners and stickers. Have over 700 different types of rally stickers from all over the world. Model cars I have stayed away from as I've seen the costs involved but at this stage I might as well.

Re: Hi everyone,
You need to check out posts by Gerardwrm on here and in particular his thread called World Rally Museum. My rally plate collection is very modest - mainly from the cars I have sat in and even then only the more recent ones. I do however have one "special" one and rather than repeat the saga look up the thread called Rally Plates.
Not sure if you have been to Eifel Rallye Festival in Germany but the rallybook sellers there have bundles of rallyplates in boxes . I think some of the stall holders at Retromobile in Paris also have them. Have you a theme or is it a case of whatever you can lay your hands on ?

Andrew - you have the advantage on me then insofar as you presumably know my face and I don't yours. I expect to be in Killarney again at the Historic Lakes so please do come up and introduce yourself. My bark is worse than my bite !!
There are two facebook pages if you are on there you might be familiar with - Rally Plates and Plaques rallye.
On a related note, many on here will remember the late Bryan Brophy - I see that his family have begun the process of selling his immense collection of rally memorabilia on ebay.

Can't find it just now but something like brophyrallyplates . The other collection finding its way onto the market is that belonging to the late Jim Porter. I have managed to get a few items - some older Circuit of Ireland rally programmes and one of the Rally Plates from Roger Clarkes Acropolis Escort.
Apparently all the plates have been sold and the books likwise to a dealer. If you go onto ebay, sports memorabilia you will see a substantial number of older rally programmes and event regulation booklets - that's all ex Jim Porter.
