CODE343 Work In Progress!...
Having recently got my modelling mojo back again, I am currently working on finishing off the following two models - Paul & Brent Bennett's 1989 Fram Filters Welsh Trophy Rally, and 1989 Birmingham Superprix supporting Metro 6R4 Trophy race entrants - both commissioned by a member of the family.
Both models are based on a stripped / resprayed bodyshell, with self-detailed interior using one of the usual plain black plastic interiors seen in the partwork models. The livery is virtually complete, as are the models themselves, except for - wipers, mirrors, one dashboard, a pair of seats, harnesses, the odd bit of detail painting here and there, and a couple of minor decals still to adjust - including the conflicting Dunlop sponsorship / Michelin tyres on the Welsh Trophy Rally entry.
Loose decals and handbuilt models will be available soon from CODE343...

Re: CODE343 Work In Progress!...
I also recently helped complete a very unique set by creating the decals for (and applying them to) a pre-painted MG Metro 6R4 diecast model for good friend and collector, Dan Ellmore. I think the bodyshell might well have been sprayed by CDM as the owner acquired it from Andy Howdle of Rally Models.
Not only does his collection now include our 'baby' 1/43 scale diecast example - decalled and detail enhanced by CODE343 - but, it also includes a bespoke 1/32 scale slot car, a similarly unique 1/10 scale radio control example, but also an actual 1/1 scale Group B MG Metro 6R4 as well! Yes, that is some collection!

Class builds as per usual David. I only wish all builders were as conscientious to details as you are.

I agree with you Chris. If you're not going to get the detail right, why bother at all? Unless your motivation is to obtain monies from the unsuspecting!
Thankfully, we know that's not David's motivation. Keep 'em coming, big man!
Cheers, Steve

Re: CODE343 Work In Progress!...
Many thanks, Chris - that is very kind of you to say.newt5550 wrote:Class builds as per usual David. I only wish all builders were as conscientious to details as you are.
Admittedly, my model builds do take a 'little' longer than others, but if that gives me time to include all those little details, then I think it is worth taking that extra time ensuring they are included. I have said it before, but I see little point promoting or advertising a service, that doesn't maintain the same standards as my own personal model builds or decal artwork when I build for others.
It is too easy to make or break a model by including or not including those small details. As the old addage states "Its all in the detail"...

Bedankt voor dat vriendelijke commentaar, 'toyotake' - ik probeer al die belangrijke details op te nemen en een schoon en opgeruimd model te maken als ik kan.toyotake wrote:Mooie uitvoeringen
Thank you for that kind comment, 'toyotake' - I do try and include all those important details, and to build a clean and tidy model if I can.

You know me too well, 'my friend' - I would never seek any kind of motivation from stinging the unsuspecting, or for providing a service or selling a product that I wasn't completely happy with myself.
Everybody has standards!...
Re: CODE343 Work In Progress!...
Some of you may recall I released a Billy Coleman 1986 Shell Oils Donegal Rally winning 'Rothmans Rally' sponsored Metro a few years ago, and may well have acquired one of the ten model production run. Well, as the run was never completed - primarily due to the lack of Starter decal sheets - I am in the process of creating my own Code 3 conversion part set of decals.
Designed as a conversion of the widely available Jimmy McRae 1986 Lombard RAC Rally 'Racing' base model from either IXO or one of the numerous partook sets, the ten model production run will be completed, and loose decals will also be available in due course, along with a similar set for the Billy Coleman 1986 Tutor Webasto Manx Rally entry....

Certainly would be in the market for set of the Astra decals if you manage to tear yourself away from the 6r4s David!

Re: CODE343 Work In Progress!...
Thanks, Chris (CDM) - I know, I must finish off these few non Metro decal sets to give the diehards a bit of a chance to catch up!
Re: CODE343 Work In Progress!...
Thanks, Chris (SAL). They're not my decals by the way, but produced by a chap called Aaron Poulson via his AP Touring Decals on Facebook. Drop him a message, mention me, and I'm sure he will supply you with a set - they are very very thin though.
