WANTED! : 1978 Mopar Manx Rally

Does anybody have any photo reference for the door & bonnet / boot event plates for the 1978 Mopar Manx International Rally, please?

I have the programme from the 1979 Manx Rally which has photos from the 1978 event.
The photos are poor quality and not that clear.
But the text is

MOPAR MANX
INTERNATIONAL MANX TROPHY RALLY
1
PARTS AND ACCESSORIES
FOR ALL MAKES OF CAR

Line 1 text is Black
Line 2 text is Mopar Green colour

Line 4 text is black
Line 5 text is Black

There is a thin yellow and green stripe all the way around the outside.
NOTE the shape at the top is NOT square.

If you are doing these door and rally plates I would like some unnumbered ones please!!

I thought the saying was "A picture paints a thousand words"...      ...not the other way around?

I have seen some poor quality photos of the door plates, but couldn't make out all of the text. So I have a rough reference of what it should look like, as well as now having also the detail of the words upon it.

I don't suppose you have any photos of the bonnet / boot plates do you mate?

Sadly the photos in the programme are of pretty poor quality.

None show the bonnet plate in detail.

I wiill keep looking.

Someone really needs to do a good book on the history of the Manx Rally

No problems mate - I too will keep looking, and might even drop 'our friend' Brian an email to see if he has any reference for the rally plate.

What about that Manx Anniversary softback book, is there nothing in there either? I have a copy of course, but it is not just easy to hand.

A Manx book?... ...well, there's a hint for you to take on the task if ever I heard one!

The Doug Baird 25 years of the Manx history has a 2 page report on the 1978 event. Side on photo of Car 5 & 8

I guess its car 5 you are after and this just has a white rectangle with the number 5 with nothing else on it. So dead easy.

It does not show the bonnet plate

Manx Rally book....if only I had the time to. I will do it if you do one on 6R4sssss!!!!

It isn't actually the #5 car - much to your surprise, I'm sure.

I have enough reference for the 1978 event rally plates and door squares now, thank you.

A 6R4 book? I don't even have time to type...


...never mind write the book!

...cripes I had no idea the history was that involved...tell us more....!!!
