NEC Classic car show
Yeah ok not rally you say but........................................
Wife bought me a ticket for the said above and i made the trip down there today. Had a great day picking up some RALLY models and BTCC cars but i also met a member from here.
Chris Derbyshire was there with a stall selling an aray of rally/racing and other goodies. I dug deep into my pocket and bought a certain 6R4 model from him which i had been wanting for a long time. The PJ Ternco car (built)
Had a good old natter with Chris and talked about Race Retro next year which sounds like its going to have some great displays so that will be a definate one in my diary when i find the exact date.
Well worth the trip down today and the money to get in.
Hope you do ok this weekend Chris and hopefully see you at Race Retro.
P.S. There were some rally cars there which i took photo's of including the RS1700T. Just need someone to download them onto here for me.

Chris
Back from the NEC. Just got to unpack the car now and put the remaining stuff somewhere ready for the next show.
First two days were right on target for selling, Sunday was a bit flat. The crowds were enormous on Saturday you could not actually see the floor!!
Had a number of Irish visitors at the stall, two I think are joining the forum. I always ask if they know Eddie or Brian or James and they always do!!!
Ref Race Retro - in 2015 both Steve Nottage and Dave Cox will be helping out on the model stand with a Retro Rallycross and a Richard Burns display. So come along and support their effort once again. But more on Race Retro on another ready nearer the event.
Don't panic Dave.....!!!!
Cheers

Very nice model mate - nice to hear that you added a long sought after model to your collection. Nice photos as well by the way, shame I couldn't make it.newt5550 wrote:I dug deep into my pocket and bought a certain 6R4 model from him which i had been wanting for a long time. Cripes were all those cars at the show??!!
I barley had time to see any of the show.
On the Saturday it was so busy you could not see the floor!!
I did take time out to check out the autojumble and picked up Graham Robson's new book Works Triumphs (& Standards) in detail. Another big tome covering everything from TR2 to TR7V8s, Standard Vanguard to Triumph Coupe. Loads of good photos and history of each car.
Still have one built Ternco 6R4 available if anyone is interested?
Cheers

Re: NEC Classic car show
Great shots - particularly like the TR7 and the Rover Metro GTi. Maybe one day, as my model-making improves, I'll get to the pint of making a Rover Metro, as it's unlikely anyone has in the past or will make one commercially in the future (in 1/43)!
Looking forward to Race Retro next February. I'm making more model rallycross cars to be included in the display. I'm working on a rallycross Porsche and another Steve Palmer 6R4 (which will be number 2 out of 5).
Good result for you, Chris. Must catch up soon.
Cheers, Steve

Re: NEC Classic car show
Just had my Classic Motor Monthly/Autojumbler paper through today.
They are reporting that 65,000 people came to this years NEC Classic Car Show. I thought it was full!!
Next year they are moving back to the big halls around Hall 5 and going for even more floor space!!
Must find some more quality merchandise!!
Cheers
