Re: Wilson for Rally GB
dunno why people say that. he was an acomplished driver in T-cars and single seaters done well on events in rallycars just he didnt come through like it was hoped.
anyone that can drive a car by the scruff of its neck and get results is not crap in my book
I bet we would love to drive one of these things

Re: Wilson for Rally GB
paul.....yep it def brings back memories of the escort....very nice memories...
mark, just my opinion m8, of course he's a better driver than most of us average joe's, but was he good enough to get a wrc drive without daddys influence, thats where my doubts lie..
wrc stats....
starts ...............90
rally wins.............00
stage wins ............04
podiums.................00
best result..............4th

Re: Wilson for Rally GB
Like that, although still looks 100 times better on the Escort. Also yellow is too bright. Us the original colour and it would be better.
Problem with Wilson is he hasnt proven anything. He went straight to WRC level without spending enough time in regional championships. I think if he did go back to do British and Irish championships maybe even ERC he would show what he can do. He will constantly have 'daddys boy' tag unless he actually goes out and wins something on merit. Until then he will always be regarded as he is. I think people forget there is a huge gap between regional to ERC and ERC to WRC. Someone in the top ten in WRC would dominate a regional championship. We havnt had enough cross over in recent years to highlight this.
In Rally Ireland 2009, Wilson finished 4 mins ahead of top Irishman Eamon Boland. Now I cant remember if there were mechanical problems but thats still quite a gap. Over a minute to G McHale in 2007. Both of whom have won the ITC. He hasnt proven his speed in the eyes of the rally fan and unless he does it soon, he will have that reputation forever
Anyone know if the artwork floating around facebook of a gold Polo WRC is going to happen. Looks great and would be a great way to show off the manufacturers win

Re: Wilson for Rally GB
thats going to be a nice Retro livery in that RRC car....
and yes, Brian, the VW did a great idea to colour the cars with Gold, Silver and Bronz. if they use it next year that will be very nice....

Re: Wilson for Rally GB
Wilson seems like a nice guy. But as a rally driver, I will always remember that he came to Donegal and got his ass handed to him by a load of part-timers and binned it on Knockalla. Yet he still thought he'd be World Champion in 5 years.

Think was the 06 focus alright. Hadnt a great blueprint for the car and that let it down a bit. Wish i had time to do more but have moved on into actual car drawings instead of fantasy cars
