Huge display. I can only imagine the amount of time that went into that. Well done.
I spy a few Sean Buckley models/creations in there as well.
If its not too late, can you hang onto the Bjorn Waldegaard RIP display and I can add a few more models to it for Millstreet at the end of the month. Having had glimpses of Donie's collection I have no doubt that he has more Waldegaard models too but just can't put his hands on them.

That's a brilliant display lads and the pics really show it well.
That's an awesome collection, Donie - very, very impressive. The sets you have collected are just too pheccin sweet for words to describe
The G3 and Ger Buckley's Escort are the dogs!
Well done - great display.

I think Donie might have had the same idea as the background is with him at the moment. I particularly liked Donie's No' 37 Waldegaard Porsche 911 - his first International win - Monte Carlo 1969 - that's the way to do it!. Looking forward to seeing your combined tribute - roll on Cork '20'.
... and well done, again, at the weekend.

Thanks Sean. I think I may have a Rothmans (yellow/blue) mk 2 escort, BMW 2002ti and a Mercs 450slc. Might have a Ferrari 308 GTB - must check. I saw him pedaling the Ferrari at Boucles De Spa a few years back - mightly impressive. He was at Eifel in 2012 and 2013 and was a really approachable lovely man.

Re: Classic Fords for Cystic Fibrosis.......CF4CF !!!!!
Fiestly i want to say thank you to everybody who passed comments and compliments to the model Show,
I was NOT the only person there with models....Niall oD, Sean Buckley travelled a long distance to be there also two creations by Ted Creedon so there were many involved plus the committee for the help on Saturday evening setting up...........
I want to start by telling everybody that people that suffer from Cystic Fibrosis rarely die from it........what happens usually is when they have a breathing problem or whatever problem that requires a visit to a doctors waiting room or A & E in a hospital this is the critical location as its here they pick up a bug or cold or whatever from another patient and that is what usually kill these CF sufferers.......the aim of "Build For LIFE" foundation is to build a separate facility separating CF sufferers from other patients......while in their own waiting rooms, Reception areas Toilets, they are in isolation hense not picking up the bugs that can be determental to their survival.
Thatt is what this CF4CF show is all about....raising funds for this cause.
Janes (JOB) and myself discussed making the 6R4 model over a coffee at the National Model and Hobby Show in Punchestown last year with Noel 143 Models.......and it mushroomed from there...........the coffee and chat took all of 15 minutes and the idea grew from there.....The Brian OMahony car was choosen as it carried the "BUILD 4 LIFE" logos on for a number of Rallys ........... I know that Noel is working on making the last 10 models and will be complete as soon as he can but his Dad is in hospital , very ill at the moment with no hope of recovery....its just a matter of time...prayers and thaughts are with him and family !!!.......
I have been thinking of having another model for next years CF4CF Show.... ...this time a FORD and perhaps a Cork car........I kind of floated the idea on Sunday and there was a number of Cars/Drivers suggested...........but that will be for chat later in the year.......I believe they will sell well ??????
The model show was unbelievable.....a good selection of Ford cars in Motorsport........the oldest being the Consul 375s, then Anglias Cortinas ,Fiestas, Mk1 and Mk2 Escorts, Pumas ,Sierras, Focus, Mondeos Falcons up to the modern Fiestas plus a number of Ford engine Grand Prix Cars.......so the Make was well represented.........the most amazing was and I will cut a long story short......one morning on the old model forum I spotted a link to a Mk2 Cortina for sale on ebay ........one of 6 ever made.....1 for each of two drivers, 1 for the Navigator 1 each for the two mechanics and 1 for the owner of the car Carl Withers..........I examined it and was taken back with the idea of the exhaust coming out of the passengers front wing ,travelling up the windscreen pillar ,then along the roof finishing at the rear window with a small silencer.......and it painted red.......it was the British Ford Rally Team.... competing in the London to Mexico Rally.......I returned to the add on ebay that night and spotted the car had an Cork City registeration and was stunned to see the British team using this so I made enquiries from Andy Howdle (Rallymodels.co.uk) and he tells me that the car was origionally built by Fords in Cork for Rosemary Smith for the London to Sydney Marathon the previous year..........any how I won the bid on the car bringing it back to Cork where it was build........so I took it to the show and Sunday Sammy oDriscoll one of the organisers was scanning through the models when he spotted the mk2 and said "Jesu* Chris* almigh** is that the f**king Mk2 built for Rosemary Smith in Cork? I said yes.......then he pipes up.....MY father often spoke about it...... he was involved in building that car .....then Sammy said I must go away but ill be back with more info.................
Sammy returned with 3 ex Ford workers that worked on the building of that car and equipped with a book "Are you still bellow" a book on the Ford of Cork factory......the Ford workers and ourselves had a great discussion.....there were stories about the building of the Cortina and when Rosemary collected the car from Fords she went around to all the workers and thanked them.............stories as simple as the time the last Mk2 (light blue ) came off the assembly line in Cork the 3 boys stayed on for three extra hours to see it .................it was light blue and they folded over the rubber booth matt and wrote with a marker "This is the last Mk2 Escort built in Cork then the three of them signed and dated it.......they were Jerry (Blacker)oSullivan and brothers Fred and George Vickery........the three boys at the show on Sunday...........they told many more storys but I can not put them in writing but a real education for us and a trip down memory lane for them....
Jerry did ask me for my address but did not say why he wanted it............. but this mornings post told its own story............he sent me his own copy of ARE YOU STILL BELOW .......The Ford Marina Plant, Cork 1917---1984 by Miriam Nyhan............A treasure to behold

Re: Classic Fords for Cystic Fibrosis.......CF4CF !!!!!
I ran out of space on the last piece so story Continued
The fact that we were in Cork and the Ford factory and workers were from the locality the FORD car show and the models were close to the heart for many on the day............. also being in Cork the Billy Coleman Collection of models and Billy Coleman was well discussed and his rise to hero and fame and first Irishman to win the much coveted British Rally Championship (Equal to WRC today), it amazed many that he had driven so many cars and makes and models during his career.....(There is a good few Coleman models outstanding so far)...many visitors telling of their exploits going to rallys many years ago....accidents and a few pints on board.......all well before the days of the breathalyser....
Also CORK related was Keith Cronin ....the only other Irishman to win the British Rally Championship and he took the honours three times........an unbelievable result in his career. and something that may not be matched ever again...... also discussed by a few old timers was Keiths uncle Denis Cronin and his achievements...................So these two factors added interest in the models.......DRM flyers were taken by many and anybody that asked WHERE would I get.........? were handed a DRM leaflet so perhaps we will see an increase in members and activity......... I know when you go to a show and you open a box and an ariel or mud flap fall off its a bit annoying but then when you get into conversation with the likes of those Ford workers all the doom and gloom float away......................so roll on the Cork 20 Rally in Millstreet Co Cork again this year where a few of us will put on a few model displays on some shop windows..........
ps....I may think of more later so if I do I will log in again

Re: Classic Fords for Cystic Fibrosis.......CF4CF !!!!!
Donie, I have another of those Ex Rosemary Smith Mk2 Cortina's with the exhaust coming out the front wing. Andy did send me a link to a write up on the car and its exploits. Must look it up. I also think there may have been some kind of football link with a soccer manager involved at some stage. I hope i can dig it out.
The CF 6R4 was apt as the show was organised by the local CF fundraising committee.
Donie's idea of doing a model for the show next year has echos of the old forum model that was conceived and brought to fruition on here. Some of you will recall a poll taken some time back about what the next forum model should be. Billy Coleman M3 was the final choice but the production never happened. I am still pursuing a builder to get this model done and I was assured no later than last Wednesday that it will happen.
