Nicky's Willie Rutherford 'Sanyo' 1986 RAC MG Metro 6R4 model
I've tried to find Nicky's original topic when he built his Willie Rutherford 'Sanyo' 1986 RAC Rally MG Metro 6R4 model, and despite searching for 'Rutherford' and 'Sanyo' on both this and the old forum, I cannot find a thing going back to his original build.
I've asked Nicky himself, but without any success. Can anyone else remember, find it, or happens to have the topic bookmarked at all? The old forum appears to have been hacked at the moment, so that isn't really helping things either!
He sold his model in June by the way, to a fellow forum member.
Many thanks!

Hi David,
I'd be interested in this as well, as I've got several Sanyo models on my 'to do' list and this one would make an excellent addition. There are few pictures of the car on the net, sadly. Was it only in the white livery for the one rally?
Cheers, Steve

From memory it was white for two or three rallies, but I'll check my database though mate and get back to you.
Incidentally, the car that Willie used on the 1986 Skip Brown (as per Carlo's decals) is actually the ex-Geoff Fielding car (Reg No C288JFM). Willie didn't use his own car (Reg No C998LCA) till the following event. Geoff was the boss of Rally Engineering Developments - the company that prepared and ran not only Willie's car during 1986, but also those of Didier Auriol, David Llewellin, Harri Toivonen, and Roger Clark in 1987.

Off topic, but here's a photo of Willie's 'white' C998LCA during the 1986 Nexus Manx Stages - courtesy of Flickr user 'NW54 LONDON'

It was white on the Skip Brown, Granite City and the Manx National.

Well researched Juha, as to being 'The Master', well mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....
Well done that man - many many thanks Nowl!
I guess I couldn't find it because 'Rutherford' and 'Sanyo' weren't in the topic title?

Fat fingers! Good job there's a little bit of water between us mate, or I'll give you fat fingers!
I'd be interested to see how your model out though Noel. Did you use Tamiya French Blue, or did you spray gun another colour instead?
Re: Nicky's Willie Rutherford 'Sanyo' 1986 RAC MG Metro 6R4 model
a glance at the keyboard W E but it looks like the w got there first..
I think it was the french blue it was a tin from tamiya anyway but I used it in the airbrush.

I managed to pick up the very last two tins of Tamiya French Blue TS-10 from my local Modelzone this afternoon on their last day of trading - better still is that it was actually at 50% OFF the normal price, which was a bit of a result.
Felt sorry for the staff though...

I know what you mean there, David.
It's bad news to lose a major high street seller (so long modelzone and Beatties! Sob!) but it's even worse for the staff.
When I made my last expedition to Model Zone, the guys were still hoping for a buyout. A buyout that sadly never came!
Glad you got to pick up a bargain (or two!). I did the same a month or so ago and have stocked up on paints, modelling clay, various bits of plastic (my wife will never understand!! ) and some tools which I'll be able to put to good use for many years to come.
Farewell Model Zone! farewell High Street model shop chains! Cheers, Steve
