Odark thirty here and about to head out with a film crew. Weather has been shit all night. The thing that will probably warm me up is the laughter from the stories Ross Dunkerton will undoubtably be telling. Must get a photo of his wallet. Think you guys will love it.

Be nice to see pics of the Hills cars and Keith Callinan who I presume is in his new Historic Rallysport built car.

I don't think Hills is running in this event Mark, do you mean the Aussie Duct car?
Here is Callinan's Escort.

That looks like it was a high speed off. Are the stages fast and open?

There are some very fast sections, however it has been raining quite a bit here so its slippery in parts. We will have to ask Mal what the road was like.

Re: National Capital Rally 2013
A couple of big accidents today. There was Elfyn and there was a guy (Gotish?) who afterwards was telling on camera the he was not trying to be a hero or anything. But does he realise that when you land 3/4 of the way down the Mineshaft, your a d/head. Hard hit then the Subaru went right into the gutter which because they hit the end shot them up in the air and onto their right side. Ripped the front suspension out of it. Comment by Ross Dunkerton was they had big balls. My answer was ''did have since the harness must have cut them off.'' It was a worry how long they took to get out. Obviously very shaken. And Lachlan had left only 5 odd minutes earlier as his son had had enough.
We then went up to the start of the stage to drive through and interview Elfyn. Although as Lachlan has stated we have had a lot of rain, with the last two days it has been very windy and dried out the roads. Not even any big puddles etc. From about half a k from Elfyn's excursion, the road goes through a tight rocky bit then opens out to a 50m straight, road goes left - do not cut then stay in and a hard packed gravel straight that you can push hard on. Elfyn is telling us he ripped a left wheel off. Does not gell. Left side wheels are ok, right side are stuffed, but what the car seems to have done is after the keep it in, it has gone in a straight line off to the right, hit an earth bank and ricocheted of to the left side going backwards. Both are ok but car is totally stuffed. Big fix. Will be interesting to see the in car stuff as we took the camera card out.
Both the Subaru and driver interview and Elfyn's interview will be in the ARC show. Pretty sure the Subaru will make the National News.

Callinan was punting the Esky pretty hard. There were a few Mk2s running, but he was the only one giving it a go.

Re: National Capital Rally 2013
Cool, thank for that Mal.
I was still around when the Subaru crashed, was just up at the next corner, if my young fella didn't want to go I was in the perfect spot!
I got this with my camera above my head. lol

Wow, the air he got was incredible, I think he underestimated it slightly when he made the notes
Costly fix there, great shots by the way!

Ouch, that must have really hurt! Glad they both got out alright! Doesn't get any better watching from the various camera angles!
Can a Subaru fly? Answer: watch the clip and make your own mind up! Cheers, Steve

Mark, I would be interested in just the decals. Would love to upscale them to 1/18.

Thought I should copy this here as well as it is more relevant in this thread
Here is an interview they did with Elfyn, includes in car of the accident. He hit the drain on the right ( my 'keep in' in my original description).
