Legend Boucles de Spa 2013
Mikko Hirvonen is downgrading after messing up in the first two WRC events of the year.

His boss will there to keep an eye on things...

And maybe they can have a little chat with Thierry Neuville, who's starting in between them:

François Duval will be a few cars further back.

Marc Duez

André Lotterer, twice a winner of the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Two Lancia 037's were entered, one for Patrick Snijers. The cars are there, and Snijers has broken his collarbone, so that's just one 037 out tomorrow (although someone has been asked drive the other one).
Other entries include PG Andersson in an Opel Ascona, Kevin Abbring in an ex-works Golf GTI MK2, Renaud Verreydt in a 911, Grégoire de Mevius in a Nissan 240 RS.

Re: Legend Boucles de Spa 2013
I had a nice day out. Last year when I was out competing, SS1 was cancelled. In 2011, SS1 was cancelled. This year.. again... but I was at SS2.
That one got scrapped too after 15 cars had gone through due to the ambulance rushing out for a spectator.
Hirvonen's Visa looked good until the engine had a BBQ of its own on the very first stage.

Early leader Thierry Neuville retired with clutch faillure.

Stevez Perez had an argument with a tree on the same stage where Hirvonen stopped. The stage was cancelled and Perez lost no time. Still made it into the top 15. It could be top 10 either, that just depends which results sheet or organiser's press release you're looking at.

A well driven MK2...

Yves Matton giving it everything until his engine let go as well.

François Duval won by a very small margin.

Bernard Munster finished 2nd, 6/10 of a second behind Duval, and lost a load of time when he got stuck after some over enthusiastic driving.

A great looking 037 for Christian Kelders.

André Lotterer tried something he couldn't easily do at Le Mans: Park his Audi up a tree.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Stefaan Stouf on his way to 4th place.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Renaud Verreydt held second place in Gr.3 911, until the pop singer alongside him who'd never seen a rallycar from the inside messed up and they dropped to 7th.

Marc Duez was well inside the top 5 but only made it into 10th place after his codriver booked in early at a time control.

Bruno Thiry's Quattro didn't last long.

Great photos again Juha - love the last one of Duez in the Belge Mk2!
I gather Andy's going to be making the Gordon's Mk2 of Duval - some decal job there.

Re: Legend Boucles de Spa 2013
Duval car wins Boucles de Spa and Andy H is ecstatic!!
Second time this year Perez has wrecked the Stratos afte he roofed it in Norway. Apparently he uses panels from Hawk who make the Stratos kit cars. So if he has used so many panels from them is his car now a kit car????!!! Whatever, its always a great car to see and hear.
Cheers
Chris

I'm sure he is Chris. There's nothing quite like an event winner to boost model / decal sales, and also to help promote his website via the url on the same winning car.CDM wrote:Duval car wins Boucles de Spa and Andy H is ecstatic!!
Well done Andy, now do you know Saturday's National Lottery numbers please?

Re: Legend Boucles de Spa 2013
Thanks guys!
Another interesting loophole in the rules was the retirement of Kevin Abbring on SS2 at 10am... and then reappearing on the last stage at 10pm chasing down Perez. The superrally rules on this event are very creative.
I was only joking about this, but 12 hours after the event has finished Perez was moved from 10th to 12th due to two Escort drivers suddenly taking 8th and 9th. Stouf was promoted to 3rd after the organisers got a query about the original 3rd place finisher setting a fast time on one stage despite having stopped for 3 minutes to change a puncture.Juha wrote:Steve Perez had an argument with a tree on the same stage where Hirvonen stopped.
