Group B Rallying Legends inaugural meet @ Curborough, Staffs : Saturday 2nd February 2013...
This was a fairly informal, but very professionally organised inaugural meeting of the popular Facebook group - Group B Rallying Legends - [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
It was an awesome day for sure - TEN MG Metro 6R4s, two ex-works Audi Quattros, a road-going Ford RS200, an ex-works Bjorn Waldegaard Ford Escort Mk2, a Ford Escort WRC, the James Prochowski / UB40 Nissan 240RS, an ex-Pentti Airikkala Vauxhall Chevette HS, Tony Worswick's Ferrari 308 GTB, an ex-1984 Rallysprint / Russell Gooding Group A Rover Vitesse, the ex-Brian Betteridge Lotus Espirit rallycrosser, an ex-Jimmy McRae Ford Sierra Cosworth, etc. A stunning line up I think you'll agree!
It was nice to meet up with old friends, and put some faces to names of new friends. Nicky and Simon were both there from this forum, and I also managed to conclude a couple of model deals - one with Nicky for assorted 6R4 models, decals, odds & sods (Cheers mate - and for the loan of the lens / memory card!), and one with Roy Davies for an unbuilt Provence Moulage Gwyndaf Evans 2002 Monte Carlo MG ZR Super 1600 resin kit! Roy is an old friend who I met at the very first Group B Car Club meeting at Curborough almost 20 years ago, and we had more than a few opportunities to remind ourselves of that meeting over the course of the day. Good times indeed!
On a slightly different matter, I have no time for people that continue to blank Facebook, moaning of it's school playground bitchyness, and are then first to criticise when they don't get to hear about an amazing day such as this - purely because they didn't get themselves signed up to Facebook, and the group in question! Facebook is so much more than the media likes us to think it is.
Rant over, and I will let my (selection of! lol) photos speak for themselves - enjoy!...

Highlight from the day however has to be the two runs that I experienced in Chris Wise’s 2013 Jack Frost Stages winning 2.5L MG Metro 6R4! Here are a couple of images of the car in question, including a YouTube link to Nicky’s GoPro incar footage of my two runs - Many thanks mate – I owe you one!...

The view ahead of me whilst I waited patiently in the queue!...

Cheers for the kind words about the photos guys, and YES I can indeed confirm it was an awesome day!
No problems at all about not joining Facebook, Steve - my comment wasn't aimed at yourself anyway.
The group has come in for some criticism from certain people that missed out because the event wasn't publicised outside of Facebook. However, as the group is a Facebook orientated group, that is how they advertise and promote their activities. It was also their first event so they were very much dipping their toe in the water with it. If paying spectators are the route the group wants to go, then I'm sure the appropriate non-Facebook publicity will be carried out before hand.
That's a great idea Chris - set up an account in a fictitious name, don't add or accept any fiends, and just use it to browse around the various groups and model companies.
