Re: Colin McRae BBC2
..and theres more...
A new series of Top Gear starts this Sunday 27th Jan. BBC2 20.00hrs - 21.00hrs.
Apparently it includes James May testing the Bentley GT and Kris Meeke drives it through Hafren Forest before last years Rally GB.

Re: Colin McRae BBC2
A cracking programme for sure, although I disagree with the Block comparison - Colin was world class, and the theatrical 'gymkhana King' American wouldn't have seen Colin for dust if they had met in similar spec cars at the same time in their respective careers!
Great to see the footage of 'my friend's' ex-David Gillanders MG Metro 6R4 within last night's programme as well.

david-totally agree with block's inclusion.not the place for the internet entertainer imho... where was Vatanen??!!! colins hero and mentor?
graham have to totally agree m8, wrc died for me a bit as a spectacle after 2008, when scoobies disappeared..not because i'm obsessed with subaru, just that then we were left with a so-called c'ship between ford and citroen, and don't even think to convince me of the variations of 2nd teams, stobbart, etc,etc...there were two teams; where were subaru, mitsubishi, peugeot, renault, skoda, vw, toyota, etc, etc?
plus the new regulations on top of this, yes the cars are still watchable but, doesn't just do it for me like it did in the 70's, 80's, 90's and most of the naughties......... just my opinion, i know some guys on here love the fiestas, polos, and ds's....
the crowds watching mcrae win his c'ship show what a popular sport this was in its day, with real fans, real drivers and real cars.........
now politics, enviro-taxation, money, branding, tv rights, F1 domination, Ecclestone, etc, etc.........it'l never be the same
ok, rant over!!!

Re: Colin McRae BBC2
I think it was good for Jimmy to be reminded about the affection spectators had for his son. What a thoroughly decent guy Jimmy came across as. I did smile when he said, let's just take this short cut (in our road legal cosssie)......
Hoy had a bit of natural car control as well. Fair play.
